Today while walking through a flea market I bought a couple of ammo cans, one was a regular 30cal can in great shape, actually almost new.
The other was an old style 50cal can with the side opening top and the the letters AMM. BOX CAL 50M2 stamped into the metal across the bottom front. It has the ordnance flaming bomb with US to its left and right stamped into one end and the manufacturers name of Burrowes. It has all welded seams on the ends and theres no gasket(missing??). Its been painted so the original finish is gone
My question is, how common are these type of 50cal cans and what vintage is it?
I'm guessing its a WWII vintage, maybe Korean War
Got both for $5
