D8,

Oh it's a fine product, SGN did a review months ago and heard from many new owners, sounds like it does exactly what it's supposed to do. It is a good quality replica of an MP5, with a few design quirks that will be corrected shortly, trust me. Already heard the after market will be flooded with upgrades for it.

It only looks like an HK. Sears won't work. The stocks usually break within a month. It's basically an Air-Soft gun.

And for $500 + bucks, to have to start buying replacement parts because you HAVE to sucks. It's one thing to WANT to change out parts, in other words, to upgrade the gun, but to have to buy parts to FIX the gun? Nahhh.

At $500 bucks plus, that's an expensive .22. Some of the Air-Soft parts will fit the gun and are of better quality. On HK PRO, the die-hards (who by the way won't even look at a clone) are putting real HK stocks on in which it's almost possible to come close to doubling the price of their "toy".

Yeah, it looks cool. I'll give it that, but if cool is what you're after just get two Air-Soft guns, and take the family out to dinner at a nice restaurant and still pocket a hefty amount of change.

In my NSHO it's definitely not worth it.

Shattered you are bursting me and D8s bubble ,we were really hoping it wasn't a dud.
I have an MP5 .and i was thinking the stock ,forearm and stuff like that would inter change.
Its one of those guns that people either love them or they think they are a dog .
The wifes brother has one and he has shot the hell out of it with no problems except he had to tighten the screws and bolts on it.
He said you cant hang onto the mag like you can on my MP5 ,or it will do a FTF.
The receiver isn't stamped steel it is Aluminum ,but it seems to be OK.
The people who make it are thinking of making a 93 or a MG 42 model in 22 MAG.

real HK stocks and forearms will not interchange. there is an extensive list of compatable parts on ar15.com that will work with this gun.

after reading all of the reviews, i went ahead and bought one. the problem with breaking parts is only with the stock. it's simply two halves pressed together...when you force it on, ( which you shouldn't do anyway) it splits into the two halves. as soon as i bought the gun, i took my stock off, and simply bonded the halves together permenantly with a generous helping of plastic glue ( like for model airplanes) and packed the remaining gap with two part epoxy.... it didn't fall apart on me...only preventive measures. 3000 rounds later and no prob at all. if you want an all metal collapsing stock there are several vendors whose product will fit.

doing the HK slap has done nothing to my gun whatsoever.

i have a break in review on gunsnet.net under mil-collector " another gsg5 review" if you are interested.

they run fantastic with plated or jacketed ammo ( no jams flawless feed)...not so ho with lead nose , at least for me.

the reciever HOUSING is stamped aluminum, the reciever itself is a steel box that slides as a whole unit into the aluminum outer. ( like shoving a 10/22 reciever into the empty upper of an mp5.

the gun weighs nothing, and has practically no recoil. it takes down like a regular HK gun, but has a screw instead of a push-pin.. Which can be swapped out if you have a spare small handguard pin and five seconds with a drill.

Bruce i really like mine also , it is surprisingly accurate ,and so far i have had no feeding or ejecting problems.
It is well made ,and it will bounce a can all day at 50 yards.
No it is not an MP5 ,or even an H&K ,it is a 22 , and as long as you remember that it is OK.
I don't think you could drive nails with the receiver ,but i have a hammer for that.
I took the advise of mil-collector and used mat epoxy in the stock when i first got it and that all seems fine now.
You could make the H&K stock fit if you filed down the rail guides in the stock ,Duh ,that stock cost more than the entire GSG.
But the H&K pins sure look better than those bolts.

We just got back from the river ,and we took the GSG out and shot the crap out of it.
300 rounds ,all kids of different ammo ,sometimes even mixing the rounds from different makes ,HP ,SP, target fire ,rapid fire ,mag after mag.
107 Deg. Not one MF ,FTF .FTE ,Nothing ,it remained Accurate ,and got so hot from firing and being in the Sun it was hard to hold.
I have been counting ,that is 850 rounds and not one single problem.
I tried to make it screw up ,holding the mag ,shooting it dirty as hell ,nothing.
I guess this speaks for itself.

mil ,my girls loved it , is yours that accurate ? wow , There isn't many 22s that will do that all day long.
Have ever had one of those guns that you just need to leave alone ?
You know ,don't start jacking with stuff , trying to tweak it out ,it works ,works well ,leave it alone .

GSG5 A Great Plinker

Actually The GSG5 is a great MP5 Replica in many respects. The weight and feel are very HK and like any new to the market offering had some problems. It was presented to the public as a Plinker and a Fine Plinker it is indeed.

Bolt Slaps did tend to produce peening of the Cocking Tube Housing and in some cases caused the Cocking Handle Shaft to break. We came up with a quick and easy fix that eliminates both problems. It was nothing more than fitting a Delrin Cocking Tube Buffer into the front end of the Cocking Tube.

Factory rear sight drums did not alow for any elevation adjustment but the factory is well on the scene with a fix. Most owners will still opt to go with a Red Dot and the GSG5 will Plink with the best of them when so equiped.

Fitted with a nice .22 Suppressor the GSG5 is a very appealing package. Check out the Pics in this post and the Vid of a GSG5 SBR with an SWR QD Warlock Suppressor Vs. A Factory MP5SD.

I hope I can get all the pics in one post but will post under with the remaining if I can't.
