I am going to make some sort of mount for one of these:
http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/Ranger/2008Navigation/700Series/XP/Pages/Overview.aspx
I want to stand in the bed and fire my 1919A4's or my M3HB.
Anyone have any suggestions on what sort of mount or pintle socket to use?
How do I hook an ammo box on both sides to hold ammo and catch links?
I will also need to save the brass and keep it from raining down on my wife who will be driving LOL:D
I can weld and fabricate just about anything but need some ideas to get me started.
All advice will be cherished.
Bill

Better do some checking first.....

I just found out today that mounting a firearm on an atv or rv is now illegal in Indiana. Supposedly the only way anything other than a pistol can be carried is unloaded and in a "secure case".

I'm trying to run down the actual text, if I can find it I'll let you know.

The rules in Wisconsin.

As Mouse suggested check your state regulations before mounting a firearm on a vehicle. You can do this in Wisconsinon only if it is registered by with the ATF as AOW. AOW is "Any Other Weapon" which of course means another tax stamp. It really puts a damper on fun ideas like mounting your 1919 in your Jeep, pickup bed, or the handle bars on your Harley. As words of caution for example: here you cannot lean an uncased rifle against a vehicle without the DNR issuing a fine. Same problem exists if you lower your tailgate and use it as a bench for holding uncased firearms. So go by the rules and have fun!

Where did you find this information on AOW's in Wisconsin pertaining to ATV's or other vehicles? I'd like to research the reg's myself a little.

How about one of these,, :) http://ioinc.us/mm5/merchant.mvc?Sc...ct_Code=MG420226&Category_Code=Tripods+Mounts

Or one of these,, http://cranetechnologiesinc.com/MK58_Navy_Machinegun_Mount.htm
The bulkhead mounts have had my interest for a long time,,, seems like a great way to have a mount that could be used anywhere for a pretty good price.

Ya gotta check here too,,, http://www.shoot1919a4.com/buyonline.html

When you get it mounted,, make sure the wife don't make any sharp turns,,, raining hot brass will be the least of your worries.

It all depends on state laws, some states don't care, some say no vehicular mounted firearms, and "permanent-type" mount only with Fed permission. Then you have states that say a visible firearm on/against a vehicle is not permitted.

Bottom line, read your state's laws carefully, it's a pretty sad affair when you need a lawyer to determine the context of laws. :(

Sounds to me like you need to ditch the ATV and get an old Military Vehicle!
