gentlemen and ladies, I pull the bolt and chamber the first round but the second round never follows!!!!! As this is in the basement I am using dummy rounds and cycling by hand manipulation of the bolt!! I have a diff. looking rear cart. stop, but not sure that's it. the 2nd round does not want to pull plus no link will eject!!! this is perplexing to say the least. have replaced complete extractor assem + . I am at present trying to make a rgt. cart. stop as shown in BROWNINGMG web and ........ how does the link kick out and the 2nd round pick up to chamber???? have checked belt feed pawl etc. I seem to be spinning my wheels --mental and--- also I am a lousy typest I continue to be so very impressed by the quality of people and their answers on this website you are quite amazing!!! perhaps some were former students!!! If so I would be proud to have played a small part in that learning!!

The links are pushed out by the cartridges that follow, so if your gun won't pick up the second cartridge, it's not surprising that the first link doesn't eject. If they don't eject when the second or third round is chambered, then you might have a problem - and that would likely be that you have a lip on the ejection port that needs to be smoothed.

As for the problem with the second round - there are a few possibilities, and a little more info would help. First - are you trying to feed from a long, heavy unsupported belt? Start your testing using just a few linked rounds. Does the pawl try to advance the linked rounds? If so, watch and see where the belt is catching. If the pawl/pawl arm is skipping over the rounds, the problem might be in your top plate. Same if the pawl doesn't move. (Try cycling the gun without cartridges - see if the pawl moves back and forth.) If the pawl arm is bent, it might be jamming up against the right cartridge stop (this was a problem I had when I first put everything together).

You indicate that the first cartridge gets picked up and chambered OK. Does it extract and drop out of the bottom of the receiver? When you manually cycle the gun, do you do it with enough force? In other words, do you pull it back all the way and then let it slam forward on its own momentum?

Good luck. And hang in there. There are always a few frustrations at furst, but you learn a lot about the design that way, and then things get better.

....Excellant trouble shooting...!!!

Kudo's to you,sir....well done on the tutorial...!!! Only thing I might ad is to stress the forcefull pulling of the cocking handle to the rear to cycle the gun....and then letting it go under it's own power....as you mentioned. Everything else is covered that I would think of....
