California: Help Stop the Attack on Ammunition Sales!
Please Make Your Voice Heard Today!

Yesterday, Tuesday, April 8, Assembly Bill 2062 was passed by the Assembly Public Safety Committee. Assembly Member Greg Aghazarian (R-26) objected, noting that AB2062 violates Joint Rule 54 (c) which prohibits a legislator from authoring a bill that is substantially the same as a bill that he or she previously authored in the same two-year session. Assembly Member Aghazarian moved to refer AB2062 to the Assembly Rules Committee for a formal determination of its fate.

Sponsored by State Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB2062 would require that law-abiding gun owners obtain a permit to buy handgun ammunition and would impose severe restrictions on the private transfers of handgun ammunition. Applicants for a "permit-to-purchase" would be required to submit to a background check, pay a $35 fee, and wait as long as 30 days to receive the permit.

Under AB2062, it would be unlawful to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a "handgun ammunition vendor" in the Department of Justice's database. Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. The bill would also require vendors to keep a record of the transaction including the ammunition buyer's name, driver's license, the quantity, caliber and type of ammunition purchased, and right thumbprint, which would be submitted to the Department of Justice. Vendors would be required to contact the purchase permit database, to verify the validity of a permit before completing a sale. All ammunition sales in the State of California would be subject to a $3 per transaction tax. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited. Any violator of AB2062 would be subject to civil fines.

Please contact the members of the Assembly Rules Committee TODAY and respectfully urge them to support Assembly Member Aghazarian's motion to refer AB2062 because it violates Joint Rule 54 (c). Also, please continue contacting your State Assembly Member and respectfully urge them to oppose this onerous attack on our rights. But Ammo comes under several other laws ,if you ban ammo you then have to also ban ,Cars ,Drano ,Gas , and a lot of other things .
This has been tried before and it failed in the SC.
A cartridge in of itself is useless , and not as deadly as the above mentioned .
Gun powder by itself isn't as dangerous as Gasoline ,or Propane .
Opening this could cause restrictions on Company's selling a product that is nothing without another component.
Nails could then be banned because they could be used in a nail gun.
Razor blades ,because they could end up in a box cutter.
This argument is what defeated this before ,the problem is to many Lawyers not taking responsibility for their actions.
This is the only major country without legal reform ,if these guys lose this ,they then need to pay for all the expenses of the opposing party.
This is the only thing that will stop stupid crap like this ,Lawyers in America have just become legal Bully's.

wouldn't that finally convince the ammo manufacturers to convince the fed to do something considering it effects interstate commerce. But there is always plan B violent death by a spoon (inside joke sorry I have always said that politicians in California would outlaw spoons if someone was killed with one)

To show how the Gov. pushes this crap through ,i was reading about how the law against a short barreled rifle got passed.
It never should have passed and was contested in the SC.
Two of the justices were ill at the time so the court never should have heard the case.
The two that were sick would have voted it down ,and it never would have happened.
But the Gov .pushed it through in an after hours case.
With the internet it would be much harder to pull this off today.

What the ammo companies (and the gun companies for that matter) need to do when a stupid law like this is passed is to stop selling their products to law enforcement in the states that come up with these ridiculous laws. If all the companies did this, they would have to change the laws. It forces everyone to be on an even playing field. If the cops can have it, then so should we!

We need more companies like the one Ronnie Barrett has. He has the balls to do this.

Why would that stop them? I haven't seen anyone in this state get killed or injured with a .50BMG round, but you can still see what was done.
