I have a sandblasted Vickers tripod(Brass Only). Hard to describe. Has a "sparkely" look It's not pitted badly, except that it IS sandblasted. There has to be a method other than starting with 200 or 400 grit sand paper and re sand papering with ever finer grit. Any Dremmel ideas? Bench ideas? If not, what then? If not "If Not", then who can/will do it.
HELP!!

When I did my 1928 I used paint striper and then brass polish, when you start buffing with wheels you can drag the holes and distort lettering. unless you are practiced at it with a commercial wheel 12" x 1" or larger you would be better off doing this by hand it is more labor intensive but will give you a better finish overall, the smaller wheel the more you are likely to move metal and drag the holes.

what about a large parts vibrator bin for deburring? they use soap and watter I think and a lot of small triangle soft edge stones. Would this work? Or perhaps ceramic pellets in the machine?

try a wire brush in the dremmel, then wax it , I blasted all my 1928 brass and then wire wheel on a drill and it turned out great, but there was not any lettering on it. try it in a spot not seen very well to start.

Have you guys done this to a Vickers tripod? the surface on mine is so rough there is no way I could polish it without taking a bunch of material off the surface. I mean the sandblaster had a hard time with the paint and I have to hit those areas from all directions to get most of it out. I would be afraid that so much polish would stick in these "pits" and I would never get it out.

Scotch-Brite pads might work.... Hmm

polish

I came across this same problem. Fixed it up just right with cretex polishing wheels. These wheels are mild abrasive mixed in with rubber. There are many brands of this same thing available.some look like a doggie chew toy with short rubber fingers that would be perfect for nooks.Others are small like for the dremel and screw on to the tool holder.I get mine from MSC but auto parts stores should have these as they carry the buffing pads. Scotch brite type finishing wheels that adapt to your hand held drill or die grinder would work well too.
