Rich does a great job of making this stuff look simple.

a remote image host is the best way to go. your pictures cant get lost as easy and it takes minimal space on the site your posting them at..

I use photbucket as a host site, you have to start an account but that is free, then you down load the picture from your computer to their site, then you can transfer it to this or most other sites, it took me a long time to figure it all out, but I'm an auto mechanic not a computer wizz, photo bucket has a guide that was very helpful as well. Good luck

My previous PC had Windows XP for an operating system, there was a "Power Toys" free download from Microsoft that allowed you to shrink pictures to fit the web or e-mail. All you did was right click the picture and there was a resizing tool in a dropdown menu.

That PC took a lightning hit in Oct it took quite a while( I figured it out yesterday) but the Kodak software that came with my camera also has that feature, I just didn't know how to use it.

Thats the problem with us dinosauers, we have to be retrained daily.

Resizing is the issue, I think

You can browse your files for attachments on this site, just scroll up and click the "manage attachments" button below the message area and follow the instructions. The problem is that the file size of the pictures, as taken, are are WAY to big they need to be resized to the values shown in the list of formats for each picture. The picture files need to be made much smaller that's where resizing comes in. I had the "Power Toys" resizer on my old PC with XP operating system, the new one has the VISTA operating system, and the "Power Toys" resizer isn't compatable. After searching, for what seemed like an etirnity, the software help for Kodak Easyware that came with my camera I finally figured out how to resize. The information was always there, I just didn't know how to ask for it. Microsoft Office also has a picture manager that will let you resize, first, I didnt know what it was, and second, being extremely cheap, I didn't want to buy it after the free trial, the reasoning there is Bill Gates has enough money. Like most things connected with PC's I had the tools, just didn't know where they were, or how to ask for them! You may have what you need to resize already, this is based on the likely assumption that you are smarter than me, and won't take a week to find what you already have, if so, there is no reason to use "photo bucket"

phot posting

I never realized you could post pictures via a direct attachment, on the site I linked over here on you had to use a hosting site, next time I post a picture I'll try the direct method. Most digital cameras come with their own software, and in that is usually a resizing program, if you have the patience to find it, I had to get my wife to figure it out.

I also have learned to post on Gunboards and will be posting a few pics here later today. When I bring up "My Pictures" on my computer's menu there is an item in the toolbar to resize photos. It leaves 2 copies of each photo, one original size and one at the smaller size. Very easy once you have done a few. There is a test topic on Gunboards menu so you can try posting pics.
