I think Ive had small problems with almost all the gun vendors. Always little stuff, parts missing, long shipping times, etc. I ctually stopped doing business with Century a while ago because they flat out refused to help me with a mistake they made.

Now its Military Gun Supply out of Texas. I bought a Bren kit off Gunbroker from them a few weeks back. I asked about the condition of the receiver and they told me it was 'standard demil, pretty much the same you get anywhere'.

The receiver was scrap. Total loss. But its a 'parts kit' so I guess I cant complain, right?

So then I look at the bbl.....pitting in the breech end and muzzle is a bit worn.

I emailed them to ask about a replacement. I emailed them a second time about a replacement. I again emailed them via Gunbroker.....No response. Id call them but at this rate Im sure Ill just get the run around.

WHy is it that the gun industry has the WORST customer service on the planet? Why? Why?

this isn't the old days, pre-internet, where there was no way of finding out about a company's reputation,.........if you had taken the time and did a bit of rearseach on that company, from the many other gunboards that are on the net, you would have known not to deal with them.

chalk this up to lesson learned.

Besides what Slowfire sez, you are buying a gun that is most likely close to 70 years old. You are buying the parts from guns that have seen service, hard service and are just now being imported. You also have to realize that we have been importing these for close to 50 years and MOST of the good ones were gone... years ago. What's coming in now are the dreggs... whatever is left over that everyone passed on years ago. The days of virtually brandy new WW2 guns only driven on Sundays was over BEFORE I graduated high school in last century.

As far as the receiver being scrap... well duh. It's supposed to be scrap. Too many talented yahoos out there restoring these things to their former glory... illegally.

????? Not according to the ATF letter in my hand.

You need to purchase an IO cut receiver from Quack on GB. 350-400 and you will have a very nice kit. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE knows MGS kits are trashed. The receiver piece for the most part are a joke. I am not sure why they even include them.

Use the scrap as filler pieces on a nice IO receiver during the rebuild

My point is they dont even care enough to return an email. Cmon, how many of us have had little problems with CAI, SOG, MGS, FLorida Gun works, IOA, ....etc....it seems this business is ripe with assholes and the only decent guys are the basement operators who still have to charge a premium for their services.

For the record, Ive NEVER been let down by AIM out of Ohio...............those guys go the extra mile.

I was just discussing this very thing today. Customer service is a genuine American ideal that is pretty much dead anymore... :( Most people are totally incompetant at their jobs these days and act put out if you ask for help. I mean, if you call a customer service line, you are most likely speaking to someone in India or Pakistan, or some other place where they don't give a s#@t and can barely speak english. The more the U.S. keeps diluting ourselves with foreigners who cling to their own cultures, languages, and ways of life, the more we will cease to be Americans and just be a bunch of segregated groups. It's really sad...

I believe most of the bad service now received from suppliers in general are due to over population. Not only in America but world wide. Much of this is caused by modern technology.

There are now so many potential customers created by the internet alone the sellers do not have to worry about losing a sale. They can pretty much do what they want as if one loses a sale no matter what the reason there will be hundreds or thousands more just behind that customer.

Go to Home Depot you want to see bad service.
A bunch of zoned out kids working there , hiding and talking on their cell phones.
The one in Amarillo Texas was completely empty of any employees , The customers were useing the auto checkout machines when the District manager showed up.
Apparently they would unlock the doors and take off someplace after clocking in.

I mean you have Ma, and Pa, up There doing that ,and feeling like they deserve it because the service sucks so bad :)
I think it is bad enough even a Nun would do it.
To bad Firearms dealers like the one you were talking about don't have auto checkouts.
Oh Honey, how did that complete 1919a6 kit end up in our cart ?

Well I hope that was in jest, because it was a little uncalled for.

Theifs are guys who sit back and make huge amounts of money off us little guys. If I spend 10 minutes at a self checkout register trying to scan a 39 cent bag of washers, and NOBODY shows up to help me, your damn right Im walking out with them. Its not like Im throwing things in my pocket and walking out.....

Yeah, your right. Im gonna go turn myself in to the local authorites cause I waited 10 minutes to be checked out, got fed up and left with it. Keep your kids away from me and lock up your valuables. Im sorry for offending the good nature of the holy rollers here.

Get over it. I bet none of you speed, have taken home office supplies or gotten some type of upgrade and didn't tell anyone about it.

I am a hardened criminal. I deserve the death penality.

Nope, not in jest. You're a person of the lowest sort, I didn't say man because I'm not going to give you that compliment.

You're a lowlife thief plain and simple, you try to rationalize it by saying your 10 minutes is more important than their product. Tell me, what dollar value of product is equal to your 10 minutes? How long would you have to wait to justify stealing a lawnmower?
I wonder if you've ever been to a build party? If you ask someone for help and that person can't help you right away how much do you feel that you can steal from him to justify your loss? It's a serious question, I need to know since I usually help out at the build parties and I need to know what to bring in case you have to wait.

You remind me of someone else who was here a few months back. He was a cop who stole gas and tried to get his friends to steal it too. IIRC he was banned from the site for that. You and he should get along fine, something tells me you may already know him.
