I've got my first garand, stripped reciever actually(6digit for $200) but now i need to get it together. I've looked around, new barrels are pretty expensive and i dont really need this to drive tacks at 200yds. I've seen a few on e-gay but i'd rather not buy there since they closed my paypal account. I'm looking for something that still has a little rifling at the muzzle. Does anybody here have any leads on where to get one, and then get it installed? any help would be appreciated.

Did you try CMP?? I'm in Ohio and Camp Perry north store is only an hour away. Last time up there they had a couple hundred out on racks for you to go thru. Barrels that is all different dates and conditions. Give them a call or check web site. www.odcmp.com

i'll try calling, website only shows new barrels. Thats Ok. I just have to find somebody to install and headspace it.

I got a criterion barrel from midway for about $169 last year. It was on special, I also have used two barrels from Sarco, their new ones. They are also the correct profile, but they raised their price to about $149. Both barrels will outshoot me. I can manage 3" groups at 100 yds with irons.
