It seems that all I have available is these 2 powders to come up with reloads in .308.
Any opinions or recipes for belt fed izzy appreciated.

I have no idea on the AA powder, never used it for anything. The IMR 4198 isn't a lot different than the H4198 and it is definitely not a 308 powder. Its pretty fast and great for stuff like the 7.62X39, 8mm kurz and stuff in that size range. I've heard of guys using it for really light bullets in low velocity loads for some stuff but I'd be really leery of trying it on full power 308 unless you can find factory load data for it.
IMR 4895 would be a good 308 powder maybe but most folks use other stuff......

I do have 4198 listed as reduced load in speer #14 manual( very bottom of some loads), thanks for your input. When life gives you lemons gotta find a way to make lemonade!
These are the only two powders left available (from a supplier willing to ship it to western Alaska) that I found any appropriate load data for.

Along with multiple manuals I keep www.hodgdonreloading.com for more quick look and see data. Unfortunately for IMR4198 it's showing only data for 110 grain bullets.
You can find www.accuratepowder.com as well. Fortunately 2460 looks like a very good option for use in 308, with data for weights from 125-180 grain.

The specific weight of the projectile is the factor that determines type and amount of a powder used. Load data for IMR4198 does not go much beyond the 110 gr. FMJ bullets. AA#2460 is listed for every weight bullet from 100 gr to 210 gr. in the LEE reloading manual,9th printing,2021 ed.

Primary load for the 150gr. FMJ bullet with AA#2460 is 40.5gr-45gr. I always advise folks to start with a median load (ie) dead-nuts-in-the-middle,or about 42.5gr of this powder. This provides for a safety margin either way and allows for the shooter to tweek the load for that specific weapon.

Stay safe...load up...
