Gents, I picked up this ASI Ultramax from SARCO last week. I couldnt say no to the price. The gun shoots nicely and is everything its advertised as. The only shortcoming is assembly instructions. The manual sucks. So Id like to ask if this is a clone of a brand name (It externally looks like a Benelli) or is it just a mishmash of operating systems. Is the gas regulator adjustable (By turning it around ??) Someone help shed some light on this for me. Thanks.

Very similar to a Stoeger M2000 which is made in Turkey. The M2000 is somewhat of a clone of a Benelli M1. Benelli owns Stoeger.

The shotgun you have may be manufactured by Vursan in Turkey which is also owned by Benelli.

I bought a M2000 for three gun competition and it has been a very reliable shotgun. Modified it with an 18 inch barrel and a magazine extension for competition, currently in that configuration with an under barrel flash light added for use around the house and shop. It will do a number on a pit bull.

So its like a Harbor Freight copy, of a Walmart copy, of an original. :D

Ill have to start looking at a parts interchange.

Except in this case all owned by the same parent company. The Stoeger M2000 uses the same inertia recoil system as the higher priced Benelli M1.

I ordered a Benelli 2 round tube extension tonight. For 35 bucks, if it doesnt fit, I wont be heart broken. I dont have much experience with semi shotguns. I can tell you that this gun feels like it has 50% less felt recoil of my 870's. (yes, plural) (Yes, I know the science behind why semi's have less recoil :D)

Im telling ya, theres NOTHING like an afternoon of plinking with a shotgun, I love watching everything in front of me slowly get shredded into pieces. Even a shi++y shot like myself can make a shotgun look good. But at HALF the felt recoil??? Oh man, Im sold on this......................

Mine was used for three gun competition, worked well there. These days if I didn't have a felon neighbor with pit bulls I would not have a use for it.
