I just copied the following off of the APEX web site...
In the kit description we added the "light rust" based on customer comments.

APEX Gun Parts Grading Descriptions:

Our grading scale is based on our visual assessment of the general overall cosmetic, mechanical and functional condition of the product and will be categorized as follows:

1.) NEW or NEW OLD STOCK (NOS): Parts may be of recent manufacture and could still be in original packaging, NOS parts are NEW but may be shopworn or dirty from age.

2.) EXCELLENT: Parts may be slightly used and will show minor signs of wear from light service.

3.) VERY GOOD: Parts are used but well maintained; will show minor wear and tear but no loss of function or quality.

4.) GOOD: Parts in good condition will show finish wear on working surfaces and may have minor corrosion. Metal could have light dents and scratches. Wood may have dents, scratches, tight cracks or gouges.

5.) FAIR: Parts in working condition but finish will be worn from sustained use or carry. Noticeable wear on working surfaces. Light surface corrosion possible but no deep pitting. Wood may have dents, scratches and gouges with minor open cracks. These parts are ready for use but will require some time/effort to look their best.

6.) POOR: Parts will need adjustment or repair. Finish will be well-worn or nonexistent. Metal pitted and/or rusty. Wood will have large dents, deep scratches or gouges and could have large open cracks. Canvas and leather items will have tears, heavy stains, mildew and may be missing straps & fasteners.
