I have seen them with 1/4 inch long tabs and on a cast one I have 1-3/4 inch long tabs but I never found one without any. I can only assume whoever did the compliance cut removed them as they thought they were unnecessary Maybe the semi-side plate it was designed for lacked a cut for them or they assumed the trigger pin would hold the lock frame in position and they didn't need it. I can see removing it from the right side but not both.
