The parts mats are a good idea but you may also wish to consult the Technical Manuals I would recommend:
TM 9-1005-213-25 Organizational, Direct Support, General Support and Depot Maintenance Including Repair Parts and Tools.
That one dates to July 1968 so there are newer ones Like:
TM 9-1005-213-23&P, 15 march 2002, Unit and Direct Support Maintenance Manual.
These can sometimes be found on line. The TMs also give the parts numbers which can sometime be heplful in identification of parts.
