I am looking for a crash course in companies that supply completed 1919A4 guns.
I am looking at getting an Allied Armament because I live close enough that I can pick up direct. I have not had a chance to do a lot of research to find out who the different builders are and what separates them from each other. I don’t want to start a big debate and I understand that opinions are like other things and everyone has one. I am looking for specific’s i.e. I believe company ‘X’ is a better gun because they re-assemble using ‘xxx’ methods or because they use ‘xxx’ parts, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am hoping to make a decision by this Friday.

Without commenting on how good or bad AA may or may not be, you should contact John Mguire and get a gun from him. I have NEVER heard anyone complain about anything that he builds, and have always heard of his consistency, amazing quality, worksmanship, craftsmanship and I think he gives a warranty or guarantee on his work as well. Many on this board have Johns guns, and they swear by them. You will have NO problems with service, fit, finish or functionality with one of his guns, whereupon there have been multiple issues reported in the past with other big name builders.

I believe Johns guns are better because he individually builds each gun himself, does not use substandard kit parts, he checks and rechecks everything twice, he himself tests the firearm before he ships it to you, and he CARES about his reputation, which he proudly maintains intact. You will hear of others who have purchased for example a 1919 from AA and have had no problems, and thats great, but you will also hear of a number who have had nightmares dealing with AA. Though those problems may be in the past now, they have occured. I don't think I have ever heard anyone speak anything negative about Johns product.

Whatever you do, don't buy **** from TNW, they are backstabbers and don't deserve any more business.

This opinion has been approved by me, and is just that, an opinion.

Like anything else. You pays yer money and you takes yer chances. Some people hate them, some people love them.

I'd go with the old standard, don't buy ANYTHING made on a Monday or a Friday.

Are you in a hurry? ;)

"pick up direct"? How is that legal? These aren't C&R guns, as they are newly remanufactured, with new RSP, and a new serial number.

If he lives near AA, then he can order it and show up and pick up the weapon in person, versus having it shipped (I assume this is what he means by pick up direct).

Aaron,
I dont think Oregon has a waiting period you just walk in fill out the 4473 they call in a quick NICS check (5 minutes or less) then you walk out with your rifle. If he has a current CCW then no NICS check just pay & go.:)

That's freaking awesome!

My girlfriend couldn't understand why I had to wait 10 more days after I had already waited 9 weeks for delivery.

Yes, I have a CHL but even withou in Oregon you pick out what you want, fill out form, they call in and get you approved and out the door you go.
Yes, I can drive to Allied and pick up there and they handle the transfer.

ya i dont think there is a waiting period there, like here we dont have a waiting period on anythying and the purchase or pick up only takes as long as the backgroud check or if you have a CCW then as long as it takes to write a check or swap your credit card.:)

but AA is a good company, i bought mine from them, its .308 and mostly isreali marked parts so if your looking for USGI i dont think allied has that, but they may i wouldnt know. mine functions great and is finished great, time it took to get finished was long but i think they may have improved this. i got mine back when they were $895 a gun so it was a great deal for the money not sure what they charge now, i would also recomend there A6 kit but the bipod does ware the blueing off the barrel shroud if you leave it on there for long periods of time, i have just learned to except my worn spot and dont care anymore. the A6 kit allows you not to have to lug around a tripod if you dont feel like it that day wich is nice. another good company is WLA if there still making 1919s, while i havnt got a 1919 from them i have some other things and there all top quality.

just dont buy from TNW.
