All - over the fall I acquired a tripod for the Marlin Potato Digger (WWI version of Colt). The tripod was a wreck, came out of an old VFW years ago and looks like someone dropped if from the roof of the building on the way out. Legs were broken off, the tripod base and the swivel base to mount gun are bent but repairable. The traverse gear and handle are intact and working.

I will need to make new legs. All brass hardware is intact or repairable. Luckily everything is made from brass/bronze.

Does anyone own or have access to this tripod (see pick)? Its the short, low version with the elbow rest.

I need to know the length of the rear leg, from where it connects to the brass tripod mount. to the end of the foot pad. Also dimesnions on the foot pad.

Also, I am told the foot pad on a Colt 1928 rear leg is the same size. If there's a loose 28 rear leg I would be interested to buy it so I can use the foot pad.

Of course if someone has a original set of legs or just the rear leg for the Marlin tripod, send me a PM with price.

Thanks to all who respond.

Contact Toolmanm203, he maybe able to help you with 1928 Colt tripod parts .... I think he may still have an old tripod assembly missing the cradle.

Looks like 30" from edge of brass to where foot begins.
Foot is 4.25" wide by 5" long with a 90 degree bend t the front that I tapered.
The leg continue along the top of the foot to the end with a taper to the end.

Can email detailed pics if needed.
