Hello
I just picked up an M2 tripod that appears to have little to no wear, almost seemingly unissued. Made by the Appliance Mfg Co. in 1942. No rebuild marks or rewelds that I can see.
My problem with it is it’s extremely hard to lock the two long legs open and engage the catch to keep them open. I’m assuming that if it’s truly “unusedâ€, it probably hasn’t been opened much if at all. The sliding bar on the leg would only come within about an inch of the leg catch. After a ton of effort, I was able to get it to latch but put a very slight bend in the leg by spreading it.
My question is, is there some sort of adjustment to these legs? The bar that supports the t&e is just held on with a bolt on each end, no nut to adjust. Maybe I’m missing something here. Or is this normal?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jon
