And a good morning to you sirs.

I have a M2-type tripod marked:

356
MOUNT TRIPOD
CAL 30 MG L2A1
ROFL 1957

I presume that means S/N 356, Royal Ordnance Factory Leeds, mfg. 1957

Also presume, given the 1957 date, it was used for the Brit L3A4 (1919a4).

Since it predates adoption of the L7A1 (FN MAG58) I presume it wasn't originally intended for the Brit MAG58, but was it later used with it?

Any info on this is appreciated, I can find next to nothing on the internet, and there of course is extensive noise from the L2A1 SLR.

Thank you!

It’s the ex lend lease .30 M2 tripod remarked into the new nomenclature. Used with the L3A2 and L3A4 flexible machine gun and also for bore sighting the L1A1 rifle with the adapter.

So even though it’s marked ROFL it was made in USA?

I’d love one of those l1a1 sighting adapters. Sigh.
