all right, stupid question time from Nate.

Can you mount a .50 m2hb on a colt 1928 tripod? Will it even fit? The tripod weighs like 50lbs... Of at least it feels like it does.

I am guessing there is not enough elevation to connect to the rear mount.

Correct.....it won't fit. Secondly its a terrible platform for the Fifty....way too unstable. It can cause the weapon to not function properly since its recoil operated. Other than the mounts specifically for the Fifty...the only other one I have personally seen mounted and still worked fairly well is the Solokov
wheeled mount for the Maxim.

I've seen one on a ZB37 heavy tripod too -

but I agree - don't even think about using a platform designed for a 1919,or 1928 anything...
