I recently installed a new steel pintle bushing in my M3 tripod project. The pintle turns smoothly in the bushing until I flip the lock. The lock makes the pintle very tight and the lock is not fully engaging as per photos. Is this a common break-in/fitment issue? I wanted to ask before I started shaving metal. Thanks in advance!

Not totally uncommon and I would use a brake hone on the pintle socket but before doing that do you have any other pintles to check the fit with?

I don't have another pintle to test with but this one is USGI and in fairly good shape. A brake hone sounds like a great idea.
