We only have a few of these at the store and decided to see if people here on 1919a4 what them. Here is some info on the tripods and some of info as well...
MG3 Tripod: The Mg3 tripod was originally designed to hold the high rate of fire Mg42, but is also host tripod for mounting the HK 21 and with an adaptor m1919a4 and various other firearms. The Mg3 is a very unique tripod, as it can be used as a backpack, and it can be manuevered to literally operate in almost in any position. It has recoil absorbers and an awesome telescopic sighting system with remote firing system, perfect for trench warfare. Units are used and for the most part are a 100% complete, but some straps may be worn or need replacement. Otherwise comes with all new optics and for the most part in great shape other than storage and slight use marks. Limited quantity available. Price does not include shipping.

MG3 Tripod MG42 mount hk 21 with optics

That's a pretty good price with the optics included. Are they HK manufacture?

Hey Sir just getting back to you. These tripods are not HK manufactured. But I have a personal one that is HK manufactuerd and they are close to identical. I am actually trading mine for one of these because my HK one does not have optics..... hope this helped

MG3 tripods are works of art.

The makers marks on MG3 tripods are pretty easy to identify. They are not tiny little marks like waffenamts but instead are quite prominent (maybe 1.5 inches tall). I have only run across two makers in person: HK and DISA. I have seen reports that one other late maker was JOWA, purportedly the last contractor who made them into the 90's.

At the front, where the side tubes come together above the front leg, there is a spot where you will see a big HK or a big DISA on the tripod. I think it may be the "hub" where those tubes come together, just below the red deflectors. (I have not seen a JOWA in person, but I would expect they are marked in the same spot.)

There are some differences in fit and finish (different paint color and applications), but the HK and DISA tripods are otherwise identical. (Presumably also the JOWAs.)

The optics are of the periscope variety, which you can see in the pictures. I believe that they are 4x and have a rotary dial for elevation. It has a typical German three post military reticle. There is a silica-type dessicant cylinder inside the optic which can be changed and/or recharged. It turns pink when it needs to be recharged.

If you can find one, you can also accessorize with the plastic battery box and light cable if you want to illuminate your reticle.

These are great for MG42's and MG34's (with the TNW adaptor). Someone years ago used to make a tripod adaptor for the 1919 which utilized the recoil absorbing cradle of this tripod, but I haven't kept current on that in many years.

Anybody?...
Guess I should check the threads more often. I was going to chime in and offer garandsandguts, but I see Rich pointed you in my direction already, so....... :)

I just would like to repeat my previous statement - these are definately great platforms for your guns [no matter where you get an adapter from]. For those that bought them, I think you'll be VERY happy with them! ;)
