That is exactly what the Israeli army did with thousands of them, they install a Buda 4 cylinder! They are the reason why so many half-track were restored in the late 90's early 00's, they made their own replacement tracks and had thousands in whare houses, when they stopped using the half-tracks they dumped the tracks onto the market, you could get a set of tracks for $2500, but they are all gone, now tracks are $5000 each! My tracks are both WW2 dated, and I saved one spare from all the stuff I parted out to build mine!

Yeah, I have a set of the Israeli tracks and drive assemblies sitting on a pallet for when I wear out my set that appears to have been installed during Korea time-frame when it was converted from one model to another. I chased down the conversion- was originally a tank destroyer, then quad, then troop carrier..... if only it could talk.
