Guys I have nothing but praise for Lou(Ohioblacksheep) and his quality workmanship. Here is a mock up of one of his new kits with bronze end cap and trunnion. It has a T&S LSP, Michael's RSP, and Lucky#13 BFPB and rear sights. I can't say enough about the quality of everyone products, but Superb work and everthing fits with minimal work. Great job and a huge Thank You to

Lou
Rollin
Michael
Sam

Without these people thiss project would not be available to those of us wanting a watercooled gun. Chris Phelps

Len I am still debating finish, the big problem with either is no one is setup to do park or bluing near me, so I am leaning toward parking it when I park my 1919. I will just have to have a really big tank for either.

Ali059, The trunnion is bronze as well as the nosecap. And since I am sixk right now I don't feel like running upstairs to take another pic. I will try later in the week after work one night. Chris

I was thinking of using some of that bronze paint on mine, but I'm not sure how well it would hold up.

I'll probably keep it as-is. Shiny MAY not be a good thing.

Please provide the clueless a clue

I stop by here every day and totally missed that correct bronze trunions and end caps were being made. Is this a trial run? Is there a list? I would appreciate some additional information.

Thanks!

Maybe...

...a year or so ago I quized a guy selling his 1917 here on the board about the caps visible in his pix. He related that he used one of those home bronze plating kits. I never did go back to him about the details. I'm contemplating the plating, but I'm not yet in the process where I need to decide.

Life would be much simpler if the WC guru, that's you Lou, had the whole deal worked out already. Hint Hint.

OK I'm kinda dumb when it comes to watercooled. Did the military ever keep the bronze ends polished bright or were they always blackened? Did they ever make the entire jacket out of bronze? I have never seen a picture of one in service that was polished. They do look pretty that way though. Reminds me of pictures I have seen of early maxims. I am still interested in building one and have gathered up some of the parts but still need the jacket, rear sight parts and barrel. Nice pictures of your project and the stuff in the background kind of reminds me of, well, my basement.

Hi Guys,

I believe Kaotic01 is the guy who did the plateing..I thought it came out REALLY nice..There's quite a bunch of guys who have made my first jackets look REALLY SHARP....All I did was supply the Sows Ear, they are the ones who made them into Silk Purses...

Sorry Mike,

My first designs in all steel has probibly evolved as much as it will go...Not counting my New jacket with Bronze end caps, and hopefully soon enough parts in steel to get more RIA all steel jackets going, I'm about 6 or 8 other Brain Farts behind:rolleyes: ...

Fractal,

This is sort of a trial run, but it isn't, unless of course I go broke doing them..I got stalled about 3 months waiting on parts to get made, but things are starting to get in motion.. Chris and a few others have been VERY patient with me and I want to Thank Them Very much for that...I'm hopeing to start posting about them soon, but I don't want to hi-jack any more of this tread...If you'd like more info send me an email...Lou

Lou, Hi jack away. This is as much about the products and their suppliers as it is about my mock up. So go ahead. And yes we did wait awhile for the product from Lou,but he was very straight forward with me about it. I respected that and didn't bother him about it much. I have built custom aircraft engines that have taken nearly that long so I understand. It is worth it afterall:D .
