Does anyone have info on the s/a MP44 now being imported from Germany? Does it shoot? Who is the importer, etc. Price range?

I looked at one in Louisville last month at the NRA show. IO Inc had it on display, this version passed Tech Branch and is approved. It looked very nice, German markings, great finish, good wood. I did not tear it down though. Talked with Uli a bit, this was a good effort on their part. MSRP is $5K.

Very Interesting Court Challenge

Security Solutions Inc. is making a challenge in the court system, detailed information available on the web address given above. I suggest it is worth taking the time to read it, they challenge many decisions based on opinions rather than facts.

As note the reason I've been given for the NRA's failure to pursue some issuses is: "We (meaning the NRA) have spent millions of dollars to convince the public that AR-15's are not machine guns." And yes, it is sometimes better to fight only the battles you can win or run from so you live to fight another day when the odds are in your favor.

That ssolutions.com company proudly states this on their site.
All weapons are built on Vulcan Arms receivers (choose alloy or new carbon) and contain all US manufactured military spec. parts.

I wouldn't be proud of that.

Not sure why they thought they could import a semi MP44 if it takes a standard MP44 mag? If we use an AK as an example, I believe the mag well has to be modified to not allow a standard AK mag to work before it is importable. I believe all current imported AKs use a single column low capacity mag.

Lots of semi versions of FA guns use original mags.. the AK, the AR-15, the M-1A (copy of the M-14), Thompsons, Brens, Lewis guns, etc.

Seems that all the cool guns (semi MP44, The BAR Semi) are all priced in the $3-5k range.. out of range of most of us.

I read tonight that Marstar Canada is selling the same item for $2995. Where does IO get to sell the same item for $4995? Check Google if you don't believe. How, or can, we get items from Canada?

yes...but they're all manufactured in the US. Current law does not allow "non-sporting" firearms to be imported. The semi-MP44 can be manufactured and sold in the US, but if they want to import it, it will have to have a 10 round or less mag and must be modified so that it can't use a standard high capacity MP44 mag.

You would think under NAFTA we would be able to, but unless the goods are produce tainted with e-coli or some consumer crap being re-exported from China, then you stand a slim chance getting the ATF to sign off on it.

On the other hand, someone once used to import US made M20 Bazookas from Canada, and got them in under NAFTA, provided they were demilled according to ATF.

Is the Q then, who in the US is manufacturing this item? At what price?
