I just finished this up yesterday. Going to test fire it today and if it works the way it should.
Then It's getting bead blasted and finished with a black enamal.
Used a MK11 mag housing, because the MK111 was a pain. Plus the fact I broke it.
The 16" barrel is new, from Prexis. The semi parts came from AL.
I found the weapon to be simple to assmble.
Had a machinist friend use his vertical milling machine to cut the holes in the tube, another one did the welding..

Hope yours runs. I got mine (kit) from a guy out of Florida about 4 years ago. I was SO pumped to build it. Long story short, the gun is a total turd. Cant even get 3 rounds off without a stovepipe or failure to feed. I guess if mine worked it would be fun, but that bbl extension ruins it for me. Good luck. Let us know how it runs.

Scott,

In the beginning I had the same trouble out of mine, had to do a little tinkering and it runs fine now, e-mail me with a detailed description of exactly what's going on, I'll try to walk you through it, if you was local I'd have it fixed in no time. :)

BR is probably got more experience in this area than me, but ive built quite a few of these and they work just fine if you set it up correctly.

so if you need more input or some help let me know.

and for the thread starter:

welcome to the "ugly little tube gun" family! once you get it right it WILL be one of your favorite little plink around toys.

MW308...I'm in New Hampshire too. I've got an SAS3 that I had Todd at ORF build for me about 4 years ago. I went the SBR route. I've had issues with it continually, to include stovepipes, double taps, feed issues, etc. Worked out some of the issues by installing musibike's new hammer and spring system. But I still have a very expensive, good looking, non-functioning rifle. If you get yours up and running, I sure could use some help with mine. I'll bring the the ammo (and the beer for when we're done shooting) .

Wished you guys lived near here, a few times a yr some of the locals get together, we fix broken guns, test and tune them up, or build a few. Teams of everything from machinists to school teachers, all walks of life, they don't like to stop until the job is done, or completely run out of energy. Oh we're supervised all right by former manufacturers turned LEO, easy-going people, Frank met one of them.

yeah same here....

we just worked on one a sten for a member last nite.

these guns CAN be reliable!! it just takes a little work and a couple of tricks.

stovepiping can be eliminated with good fast ejection.

feed issues are either a bad mag (very common) or misaligned magwell...

the mags on these guns are picky!!! you need to fit one to the gun and mark it and not hold the gun by the magazine.

I had a number of problems with it today.
Couldn't get it to fire. Bolt wasn't far enought forward, the firing pin would just barely dent the primer.
Took it apart, polished up the bolt and the inside of the tube.
Back to the range and she fired...BUT ONLY one..
It fired, ejected the spent case, picked another one. But the bolt wouldn't go forward all the way again.
I think it needs more polishing.
Also
The hammer/striker doesn't seem to be hitting the firing pin with enought force.
This is the "new style" musibikes hammer.
something is binding up.. No problem
I love to tinker with them and will get it to work.
Not only that, but I found a free supply of glass beads to use to finish her with.
MJB68,
I would like to see yours. I live in Whitefield, which is north of Franconia notch.
Where are you located??

Went back to work on her... If it wasn't so late I would run down to the range. Only 10 min drive.
Took her all apart. Polished up the bolt on a 240 grit belt sander, also the hammer. smoothed out all the rough edges. Sanded the inside of the tube with 120,180, 240. cleaned and oiled it
The bolt sides 100% better and the hammer really "snaps".
Checked the springs and rods..The hammer rod was alittle bent.
Using red lipstick. checked to make sure the boltface was contacting the breech/rear truntion. It is now
checked the feed.
Took 1 mag. -this is the 1 that I am going to mark for this weapon-hopefully not the last.
using "dummy" rounds, checked for feeding, extracting, ejecting.
This still needs some work.
because I used a MK11 mag well and ejector, had to modify the bolt and tube some.
worked on the last 5rds that I tried.
So I am hopefull it will function tommrow.
wish me luck

lots of mag tricks out there....

a good mag is first.

next is the contact point from the mag lock to the magazine, this gives lots of people the trouble and they never figure it out and throw the mags away..

if your doing a MKII set up getting the centering hole lined up is critical... just a couple of K's off and it will be devil you.

next is trunnion placement. closer is better. from all the conversations we have the best distance seems to be around 1/8th" and no more.

The key is to have the barrel installed first then fit the bolt so it slides correctly then put the bolt in and set the mag well in with a magazine making sure everything is lined up and centered then tack in place. feed some rounds if it is not correct addjust until feeds correctly then weld It also helps if you make your own rear barrel trunnion with a little bit of a funnel to it to compliment the inlet to the chamber

The thick wall of the reduced ID tube was too much for me. I found a fellow gun enthusiast and he milled it out for me on his bridgport. I had to mail it to him. He sent it back as a helicopter part!
Brian..30calmachinegunner is a machinest. You might ask him if he could mill it out for you. He did me a big favor on my rapidfire 1919a4.
I don't think it's illeagle.
Anyway, Going to try it again today.

Not a firearm if sear port and ejection port are uncut, there was an ATF letter on those awhile back for display gun receivers with undersized ID, several vendors sold those as 80% for over a decade, we know what those letters are worth now. ;)
