Well, not exactly MY new chest. My daughter asked me to fabricate a facsimile to a toybox/chest for our grandson, so instead of devoting the last two days to my favorite passion, I devoted them to coming up with something that should pass for a toychest. Just thought I'd share a couple of pics....not for sale guys...my daughter would have my you know what! lol

Oh yeah, I did check. My shorty 8MM 1919 fits nice and snuggly in there! :D

That very nice, lucky grandkid! What kind of wood is that? It's beautiful!
Thank's for the compliment 47lincsled - actually it is only edge glued yellow and white pine. The stain is a mixture I came up with for wooden ammo boxes. It seems to look good on pine and oak both.....

I need to finish coat the polyurathane yet and add the hardware, but it's coming together. You should see the pile of wood chips and sawdust though!

Looks great!

Looks great! Are you going to post a pattern for future use by others (like me on the other side of the state) in the build section? Then later it gets retro-fitted for "big kids toys"?

I've noticed daughters are very costly even before the grandchildren arrive. :)

Oh you are so correct. Daughters are expensive, up to, and even after they get married! :)

I just sorta drew the thing up on paper and built it, but I suppose I could put something in pdf format if you're interested. Might take a little time ( time? what's that? ) Send me an email and I'll reply when I get something drawn up, OK.

Ya know,, as much as I love guns, it does my heart good to do some wood working from time to time. I just the other day dug my wood shaper out from under a bunch of stuff and cranked it up,,, bought it several years ago and never used it till now. Nothing like creating something of beauty with your two hands for someone you love,, Well done Brass.

My step son jst had twin boys last week,,, gotta get going on building a couple of baby rattles for them.

Well, finished up the final touches and shipped it off to my daughter. I wanted to fill it with guns and take a few pics, but my better half wouldn't let me marr the paintjob with grease stains and metal marks. No sense of humor I guess :)

Anyhow, just thought I'd post a final pic, and then move on to some gun related projects :D
