Can one of you guys who has one of the original (non-pneumatic) subcal trainers take some pics of your rounds and pm or e-mail them to me. I have a GREAT design that I have been playing with but I am just having trouble propelling it any farther than 10 feet. If one of you guys would be willing to help me out I would be more than happy to give you a couple rounds from the first batch that I run.

Thanks,
Ben Radcliff

If you want ...

....I can take pics in the next couple of days or I can scan and send line drawings from the manual. These are just drawings showing how it works , not spec-sheet stuff. If you are using #2 nail gun chargers and only getting 10 feet , your tail hole to bbl stem fit is too loose. If you are using .22 starter blanks , congrats , mine wouldn't clear the tube with those.

Here you go

hope this works. First time trying this. Steep learning curve. Only 2 hours work.

Well crud , all the pics are out of order now. If I try to download the one at a time , they only come out as full size pics and I don't want to use that much space.

Well......

let's see, pages are in reverse order except the last page is the last page. Not too bad I guess for the first scanning do.

Good morning Gents, I know this is an old post, but I recently acquired one of these training sets to use with a registered M2 60mm mortar. The original blanks are scarce and I wouldnt want to expend them anyway, after reading this am I understanding correctly that construction blanks (like those for a hilti gun) are ok? If so, any recommendations which ones? I’m guessing the starter pistol blanks for the nose are fine, but wont get the projectiles to clear the tube. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
Gregg

Start with the #2 . #1s are too weak and #4s will damage your tail over time . See the manual for what range you should be getting . Don't push them , but I used #3s and had no damage seen . YMMV .
Stay safe . Chris

Shot the sub cal kit today with Ramset #3’s, worked great and a lot of fun. The chamber was set to the lowest setting and we were getting 25 meters. I put spent shells in the nose to avoid damage to the inertia system, and was afraid to try to 3’s in the nose. The winchester bp blanks seem to be unobtanium, any recommendations for the nose?

Thanks again!

I use the acorn blanks and fill the nose cavity /cross passage with florescent chalk line powder ...... It makes them easier to find in the sandy soil here . I also lose wrap a length of colored string around the tail boom and that makes the much easier to find as it generally trails out in flight and part is sticking out of the ground .
