I'm working on filling out my paperwork to sbr my mp5 clone and i have a few questions. Where they ask for barrel legnth are they asking current or planned, under desciption, markings what goes there, and i read thru the instructions and it seems that if it's not being built from parts i dont have to change the s/n is this correct or can i just add my intials to it. it looked like you only need to add address if you made the receiver and gun from parts but this was not, it's just a commercial mp5 clone with a 16" barrel.

On the citizen certifacation do i fill that out or does the cleo fill that out when i go there for his sign off.

And lastly is there any other thing i need to know i'd hate to have this returned cause of a paperwork error.

let's see if I can get them all:

They want the planned barrrel length

under other markings you put the original manufacturers information as you are now the manufacturer of the firearm(sbr) and need to have your information on it as well.

serial number is fine

certification is filled out by you, no LEO on it.

make sure you use the correct fingerprint cards and that they are filled out with the correct information.

So i do have to mark it with my name and address? I cant just add my initials to the org. s/n?

I guess i would have to send it out to marked, who does this.

Engraving must be at least .003 deep and in plain sight, can be marked on barrel OR receiver, probably best if receiver. HKs? Say mag well, top of receiver, or right in front of recoil plate, you can no longer mark in hidden area.


Engraved info can be abbreviated, your initials, city, state, zip, just some way for LE/ATF to ID rightful owner should it be lost/stolen.

Orion Arms does the best engraving but "maybe" a trophy shop can do what you want also as long as they can get it deep enough. Also there is a minimum size for the lettering.

Orion does some excellent work, they have done a few things for me. Good turn around time also.

Ya, i know about Orion. I'm also looking for a local comp. i'm in the north east ohio area. I e-mailed Ohio Ordnance cause they are 10 min up the road. We'll see if they will do it. I'd rather have a gun guy do it idk what a trophy engraver would say or how they would set it up i dont want this damaged.

just get out the dremel and carve it in there yourself
