I've examined hundreds of M2 tripods. The Evans Corp ones may or may not have a Data plate on them, most are stamped on the head with a date, usually 1943 or 1944. It's possible they stopped using them in '42, but I have no real hard facts to back that up. There was an order of the day, according to Dolf, to remove all the brass plates from the 'pods for tactical reasons, but all were not done or none would survive to this date. All of the tripods I've examined have been rebuilt at one time or another for function only, a real mish mash of parts, with no regard for their future collectibility, LOL! The SG ones pictured appear the have no holes in the feet, but the data plate in the inset pic appears to be a repro. I have a friend who ordered two, so I'll get the heads up shortly.
There really is only one place to get an authentic, correctly rebuilt and refinished WWII M2 tripod, correct era T&E, and thats from Cole Distributing.
