Can anyone relate on best way to remove ammo box mounting bracket? These look like they could be a rivet or collet type fasteners. How best to remove and replace, anyone? Thanks.

....remove....?

Welll,....I can see why you would want to remove/repair/re-rivet the ammo can mount. I took one off to do the same thing and just drilled out the rivets and replaced them after repair. Easier after you take the side plates apart... Have done (4) of these tripods and wish I could find some more...they sell quickly.

Am I correct...

...that these are two piece fasteners, with a inner pin that expands the outer (and thicker) ring? Could I just hammer that inner pin out?

Oh yeah, the unit looks to have been originally blued, neglected and rusted thoroughly, and then heavely painted over the rust. Oh, and beat and banged up throughout.

You've seen abunch of these, do you know what's the circle R stamp designate?

SbySW is correct, but let me point out that it should be an R in an oval, not a circle. It is on all the Colt made 1928 stuff.

I have one breech lock with an R in a circle, and I still am puzzling over that one!
