KevinT .....

I bought an AR-15 in '66, NIB ..... I just found the paperwork, $110.00 out the door with three boxes of Remington ammo & two, Colt magazines, sling, cleaning gear etc. Still have the rifle (SP-1, 4 digit Ser #) and the ammo, ammo is still still in the original boxes. The rifle would probably rate 98%+. Yes, I've shot it, shoots good.

I think that I did OK. Some times, it pays to be an ol' dude!

Cheers,

Da Bear

as for old time wishing, best answer is:
take the time to become a dealer.. pre 86 of course, in that time order a thousand registered sears. no 200$ tax stamp. leave them all on form 3s
let your license lapse and keep all the sears and sell them off all slow like

that of course is the money idea of the whole thing. you can sell off or trade for what you want. on the low end of 10,000 for an m16 or hk registered sear that is $10,000,000 today all for a couple thousand in 84

I remember my local gun shop having Gyrojet pistols. They were pretty cool.
I didn't buy SP1 until 1975, and still it was only $232 out the door. That was a bunch of money back then. I think a Ruger 10/22 was only $59.

seeing that that made me break into song

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played. Songs that made the Hit Parade.
Guys like us, we had it made. Those were the days.
Didn't need no welfare state. Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee, our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the days.
And you know who you were then. Girls were girls and men were men.
Mister, we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again.
People seemed to be content. Fifty dollars paid the rent.
Freaks were in a circus tent. Those were the days.
Take a little Sunday spin, go to watch the Dodgers win.
Have yourself a dandy day that cost you under a fin.
Hair was short and skirts were long. Kate Smith really sold a song.
I don't know just what went wrong. Those Were The Days.

even though i wasnt even born then... I can appreciate the times for what they were

Just make sure you save old bills to take back with you. If you try to pay with the new funny looking US bills they'll lock you up.
Just take a few thousand... and go to Vegas and bet the Ky Derby, regular horse races, World Series, etc. Just make sure you spread the $ around the casinos, back then you could earn a "dirt nap" easily out there.

I do like Rory's idea about the sears... who would have thunk it? That little piece of metal. 10K

But, you can still buy the AR auto sears in the Shotgun news for about $150... the guy says they are legal
