I see this as a major issue... If Obama wins the nomination, then it's very unlikely we can beat him in the presidential race.

If hitlery wins the nomination, 50% of the population hates her already, so we have an even chance of beating her.

Dem gets into office, kiss the second amendment good bye... the anti gun bills are stacking up right now waiting for the chance of a dem getting into office. (a Dem WILL sign any and all anti gun bills).

Basically now they are attacking on both flanks now... trying to ban weapons HR 1022, and now trying to ban ammunition, or make is so expensive as to put ammo plants out of business.
The latest are HB 4258 and HB 4259 (from IL) both called the "Ammunition Accountability Act," and the other two bills, HB 4269 and HB 4349 are both called the "Regulated Firearms Encoded Ammunition Act,".

In Calif the (nuts and flakes) have required that all weapons built need to micro stamp the cartridge cases when fired., and now some states are pushing to micro stamp the base of the bullet.

the law basically would state that all the ammuntion you have now MUST be destroyed and you would have to purchase the new stamped ammo (bet this would piss off the people who have 100K+ stored).

It's just another way of getting you to turn in your bulk ammo (kind of ties in with the halt of surplus ammo being sold to the US as well), and at the same time trying to ban the weapons.
loop-hole: hand loaded ammunition is not included (so far)

I agree with weaponeer. Assuming we have a Republican nominee we can stomach, I'd rather face Billary than Obama. But this was a long expected win. Billary has very strong support in many of the major states. I think it's a bit early to crown Obama.

new pres/ person

this whole race is a farce. both sides. there are not gonna be any winners as i see it. the congress are not gonna make any real decisions. like social secrurity ( that really needs looked into, and changed) the idiots running for pres dodge every imprtant issue. anyone that could really make the country work, is afraid as hell of getting into this mess. we better clutch our behinds real tight and get ready for a real fiasco. the jobs are going south- east and everywhere but here. the currant bunch of liars in the oval office, are giving away money that ain't there. ( yea, ill take it. but who is gonna pay ?????)we as americans better get a grip on things. we are looking at the rear end of this horse, and it is getting closer than you think !!!!!. it's up to us to make a change. our goverment is way to stupid and greedy to do it . jmo. tomt

Who will Edward's supporters go with when he drops out - Hillary or Obama?

Although i enjoyed seeing Hillary grovel before NH, she seems easier to beat should she get the nom.

The pending anti gun legislation is a nightmare but they have to be careful not to reach too far too quick - could backfire.

Agreed. Democrats have NOT forgotten how their 1994 gun legislation cost them control of Congress for more than a decade. As much as they talk and propose legislation, getting it passed is not as easy as that. Even if they DO have the White House too.

Weaponeer: we hear you man ,thanks for the links.
This entire race is heating up now more about gun rights than even Border issues.
My wife is on forums like ,Sewing ,Quilting ,and even on them the women are all talking about this.
One woman from VT.said ( I don't own a gun ,and i never have ,but if i want to it should be my right ).
It seems it is becoming more about rights ,with the 2nd ,being the standard bearer.
2/3rds of America want the right to bear arms and the Politicians still do not listen.
It sure makes you wonder about all the conspiracy theory's,like who really is running the show.
People are saying to watch Obama and Huckabee next mounth .
Also guys remember Congress is up for a turn around this time also.
If we cant get a good president ,then at least get a good Congress.

Obama only won S. Carolina because there was a very strong effort there to get out the black vote, and they had an unusually high turnout. That's not likely to carry him through all the other states coming up on "Super Tuesday". As far as I can tell, it's still a crap shoot. Hillary and Obama have the best chances, but Edwards isn't completely out of the picture.

McCain is gathering more strength than I would have expected a short time ago - I actually think he's going to grab the Republican nomination.

I think the Democrats' best chance of beating McCain would be with Edwards, because both of the other two carry too much baggage with them. There's too many people who hate Hillary and too few who feel comfortable with Obama. The victory in the November elections will be decided by those in the middle ground, not at the extreme right or extreme left. And Edwards has the best chance of carrying the middle ground. Hillary and Obama will do well in the primaries, though, because the independents aren't voting in the primaries. Their strength will come from their own corners of the party, which won't help in November.

If I were to place bets today - I'd bet that the next president is named McCain.

Bill i am close to thinking that also.
I have for about two weeks now.
When it hits in the SW ,i think McCain is going to kick A**.
His little deal about Amnesty ,didn't float with us ,but you can bet it did with the Hispanics.
And i don't care what Washington says ,they are the Majority out here.
Out here you have a lot of Left leaning Democrats ,you really cant call them Liberals.
They hate Hillery and don't trust Obama.
McCain is who they will flock to ,he is from the west and Romney isn't.
A lot of them are from California and after selling property there ,are rich over here.
They own guns ,they want their guns ,and that was one reason they left California.
But few i have seen, have the kind of guns we do.
Some have converted though ,and have seen the light.

sdk i think that it is an irrational fear/idea that anyone will off clinton or obama. too much risk really as much as there woudl be a ton of speculation and desire from many, it just wouldn't happen.

i don't see edwards actually winning the nomination either. right now i am seeing obama and then him picking up edwards as his vp. for the past two years i have been speculating a obama clinton ticket but not so sure that it would come to that now. i see obama winning the nomination and just can't see hillary taking the VP seat unless she has her own plans to knock off the leader.

and as much as it pains me with the current crop, there will be a democratic president elected this november. there is very little "one" feeling amongst the republican side. many will stay home rather than vote for a few of the contenders. where as many of the democrats and the left leaning will come out in droves for either candidate but preferably obama.

but hell, maybe i am wrong.
