Does anyone know any good websites on Oerlikons? I have this odd Scope, that I have been told may be a Oerlikon scope. It fits a standard MG08 rail but I can't find any info on it. Anyone have any idea of exactly what it is?

Bob,

I don't know. I picked it up thinking it might be a post WWI MG08 scope. However it is not as it does not have a cut out for the front stop. Someone told me it might be for the 20mm... I really don't know. Any ideas would help.

Nedinsco was owned by Carl Zeiss Jena. According to the treayty of Versailles in 1919, where Germany was forced to stop the production of weapons. In Venlo Carl Zeiss continued the production of optical instruments for the militairy industry.

Venlo was in the Netherlands....

Very interesting, so that would mean interwar production?

Its got an inverted V with a vertical line in the center. No range markings. Looks just like a MG08 sight with vertical line.

I Am not a expert but the bubble level tells me that it is for mortars.

If it was for a gun it would not need a level, specially for a bullet hose.

The mount would control its relation to the barrel and be repeatable after removal and replacement on a gun.
