So I like came down with a sore throat, i researched it and ways to combat it. I came across this one site that said Cayenne pepper (enuff to give even a true mexican indigestion), ginger, tea and water and gargle it, and let just a little bit drizzle down your throat, you can pick whatever you wanted to go with the water and pepper.......... lemon, honey, whatever........... do it at least 2 times and continue for an undisclosed number of days until its gone...........call me an idiot but I just had to try it...... I figure what the hell do I have to lose?

While it did ease the pain of the soreness instantly and lasting effects were like 12 hours, it caused other serious problems. I have had 2 small heart attacks one when I was 16 and another when I was 20, so anything that affects blood pressure or thinning is consequently bad. Following cramps and convulsions last night i finally got to sleep monday morning at 7am 3 hours of sleep in 3 days, did I mention it was a stupid idea....it could possibly kill someone if they've never done it or react badly to it.

Ginger is like Rosemary it will cause hot flashes and sweats, you give rosemary to people who constantly complain about being cold....a little goes a long way, only if they can have it. Cayenne while it tastes great on foods..........don't gargle it, put it in your favorite dish and eat it like everyone else does.

Can you burn/sting it out of your throat sure, but you'll need to have to surgery to fix your stupidity for screwing up something that god made functional, believe me I been there twice for throat surgery for other complications unrelated, the costs far exceed the discomfort for a few days.

Feel the need to relearn sign language again, it'll be at least a week before I can talk without the pain.

Yeah, some of those tales ya gotta take with a grain of salt. Kind of like those ads for colliodal silver; it *may* help cure what ails you, but if it turns your skin blue, is it really worth it? Sorry about the throat; hope you'll be Ok otherwise.

Chad,

Nothing wrong with home meds, providing you know what you're doing.

A lot of people with high BP probs take Cayenne (small doses) and notice they don't need expensive (doc) meds again, my father is one of them, doc is amazed it worked and wants to know more.

Look at it this way, you played "lab rat" and learned from it, at least the doc didn't ALMOST kill you, 3 recently put my father in ER due to their stupidity, the bad part is they say THEY don't make mistakes. :(
