Thanks for all the responses to the night vision question, I took the advice and bought a basic demo, which suits what I wanted to a t.
Any way, any opinions on an Olympic ar 15 receivers and guns? They seem reasonably priced?
BLessings to all.

All depends on what you are plannig to do with the ar15. For a basic rifle that you plan on upgrading Olympic Arms is ok, however, I have never liked the fit and finish, especialally the handguards. I would recommend a basic Rock River Arms or DPMS.
I'd agree,

I like DPMS and Rock River too. I like Chrome Lined barrels and the bargain AR's generally have Chrome Moly barrels. Some of the companies will advertise a "Chrome" barrel which many times means chrome moly, not lined.

There are good deals on Bushmasters and Armalites once in while at gunshows as well.

I do have an Olympic 9mm Upper which is pretty fun, but it's not near as accurate as the 5.56. I did replace the handguards on it, because they were not heatsheilded!!!
I can not recommend Olympic Arms. Before the so called assault rifle ban I built two AR's on Olympic Arms receivers and custom barrels. I ordered seven more before the ban and the order was accepted. Several weeks later I called wanting to know where my order was and Olympic Arms told me even though the order was placed and accepted prior to the rifle ban they would not sell them at the agreed price and wanted 300% more for the order which I would not agree to.

the exact same thing happened to me. i told them not to ship them ( they shipped 3 rifles anyway and i sent them back) and i would not do business with them any more and i have not.
all the rifles i had ordered were already sold in this batch. i had to refund the money. i was told by them they would not raise the price on the rifles i had ordered before the ban, but they did it anyway. i will not even take a oly in trade.
i know that this does not affect there business in any way because i do not buy there product.
