Hi Everybody,

I've been lurking for a long while and learn new stuff everyday. I've got several different semi builds going (1919A4, AK, Bren) at the moment and would have them done if I could just prioritize the time. In rereading the 1919A4 FAQ section something didn't seem correct.

The answers are probably meant to be general and not state specific but...

-I'm guessing the answer to #19 is the letter of the law?

-Is the answer to #20 accurate?

-I thought the answer to #21 is "Only if it gets sold".

Not looking for binding legal advice but are there more accurate answers?

I'll be learning new stuff till the day I die so no offense meant to the generous folks who put together the FAQ.

The FAQ is in SERIOUS need of updating. That's hopefully in the works. No, There is NO LIMIT on how many PERSONAL firearms you can build in a year, so long as you are not "in business" by doing so.

No... If you sell them at a later time, so long as you are not "in business", paying taxes on them is a moot point. You don't pay tax on other firearms you sell, do you?

If you sell the weapon, by letter of the law, it needs to be duly marked as such. That is a buyer/seller thing. Your mileage may vary... Some guys don't want it marked, some do. Some just don't care! If you are building it for your personal inventory, it is SUGGESTED that it be marked to aide in identification if ever stolen, nothing more.

Any volunteers to help with that FAQ?

Although that is true..................HOWEVER, don't forget that you also have to abide by what your state law may say. your state gun laws may say differently, that it would need to be marked with the manufaturers name, etc...
