My friend and I came to Florida to visit and went out to the Manatee range today. This is one of the nicest facilities I have ever had the pleasure to shoot at. When we advised the manager that we had NFA weapons, he signed us in and took us to a cool private portion of the range, supplied us with targets, propane bottles, fire extinguishers and other stuff to destroy and left us alone. After an hour, he sent a fellow down to see if we needed anything. The whole atmosphere was professional, laid back and accomodating.

This facility is exceptional and the people outstanding. They even have a 1000 yard range for the 50 cal guys.

We plan to go to Hernando tomorrow.

Outstanding!

Sounds like a great place to go shooting, but what's the bag limit on manatees these days? :p 'Course, some of 'em CAN get pretty big, so the .50 cal guys should have some pretty hefty targets- kinda like prairie dogs, with flippers! :D

Rfleet1066, I went there last weekend to a NFA shoot that was advertised on subguns.com
Man that was one cool time watching all the toys go boom!!:D Several Barretts there too.
Did they send you to the back of the range, past that cool western town set up they had? I suppose what you saw for targets there were what was left of the MG shoot the week before. They had to stop shooting at one point when one of the guys caught the target car on fire, they rolled it over with a dozer and snuffed the flames with a bunch of dirt. :) Then they were back at it.
My only regret was that I didn't have my guns along to join in with them. The Desoto dragway near there is also where they have a Super Chevy car show every year, I haven't made it to that yet.
