Of those three, McCain is most pro gun, based on his current positions. But I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. He has NOT been consistent and still is pushing for NICS checks on private party sales at gun shows. That's on his web site, so he is not shy about it. Many of his other positions turn my stomach.

I still think Huckabee is the best on guns, this side of Ron Paul. Though it has been said on this board that Huckabee pushed for 10 rnd mag limits in Arkansas. So he may be another who is flip flopping on major issues. That applies to all the rest, so it makes him no worse than McCain, Romney or Giuliani in that respect. None of them have track records that match current rhetoric. But Romney and Giuliani still openly support a renewed AWB, so if the gun issue is top priority, you have to look at McCain or one of the others. Or balance other issues along with that.

Here is a rating on some major issues that I just got from the American Family Association. FWIW. http://www.afa.net/pdfs/08vg.pdf

That's easy- RON PAUL. The others are a choice of the lessor of 3 evils. But not MUCH less. ;)

Huckabee is the only one with a chance, and he might have to pull a rabbit out of his hat.

That's why I always say, "this side of Ron Paul". A vote for Ron Paul is about as useful as the old Ross Perot vote. Rumors are out there that Paul might run as a third party. That will guarantee Billary or Obama. But I don't think Paul's people are the source of that speculation.

Nothing wrong with Ron Paul otherwise, so long as you don't mind surrendering Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq to Osama Bin Laden and/or Iran. Then we can look forward to the unfettered Al Qaeda training camps, unlimited terrorist funding, etc. Kind of like we had in Afghanistan, leading to 9/11, but many times worse. If that's what all you Ron Paul supporters want, go ahead and vote for him.

i see as many left leaning folks supporting paul as i do the right side. it is really odd really to see both sides of my life in agreance. the gun shop fools and the normal libs. if he would not have come out against roe v wade he woudl have a million more followers.

PLEASE TELL ME WE HAVE ANOTHER CHOICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TOMT:confused:
a choice between those 3 is difficult, I'd pick McCain over the others he stands as good of or better of a chance of gaining votes, he still looks like he is in poor health.

For once I am going to agree with Rory Benson about NICS, the NICS thing doesn't bother me since the CCW in my state overrides it, and for C&R guns I don't have to do anything just order and its here in 3 days. The only real deal that bugs the crap out of me is this leads to a slow death of the 2nd amendment once the anti's have a foot in the door its pretty much sealing your fate.

That's the only thing that is bothering me about Ron Paul. It seems so inconsistent with everything else that he believes in.

I think it is highly unlikely that he will ever run on a third party ticket. He's a Republican, and is constantly having to remind people of that fact. He holds true to the foundation of that party. What do people not understand about that?

Have you all heard about what went down in the Louisianna caucus? Paul finished in second place, but it seems that some rules were bent and/or changed in order to knock his supporters from list of registered voters. Is the GOP really that scared of him? I don't have a link to the story right now, but I put it in a thread on TOS.

Out he in the west we refer to McCain as the democratic senator from arizona. The people who would vote for McCain in the primary will vote for Hillary or Oboma in the general. And Romy is all up for the assualt weapons ban.
