I am having a problem with my full auto M1919A4 which is setup in 7.62 NATO. I will only get one or two shots with links before it stops feeding and I have to manually cycle. With cloth belts it does work better, but still stop after several rounds. I have went through it and cleaned everything including the booster. I have replaced the belt holding pawl and belt pawl including both springs with new.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Are we talking about failure to extract from the belt or links? If so, be sure your ammo is correct OAL, full NATO spec. Check the extractor's milled claw underneath for uneven wear (not the sprung ejector, the milled claw on the body.) Make sure your cover extractor (leaf) spring is not worn and too flat. Also, sometimes seating ammo a bit less deep in the links or belts will make a difference in 308. Just a few little things to look at. If failure to extract is not the problem, then never mind! Let us know what it is, or is not, doing.

I checked and everything is tight and also replaced the extractor assembly with a new one I had, but it was doing the same thing. I am using Federal XM80 Nato ammo. I still get one sometimes up to three shots then it stops. Checked head space backed off 3 or 4 notches and no different. I tried removing the trunion shield and it actually started working much better, I would get longer bursts but still occasionally stops. It does seem to run better with a cloth belt versus links. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

2 suggestions. Check the feed paul spring and make sure it's not too tight. Clip a bit off the spring if it is. Next, check/replace the extractor spring (the flat one) the runs along the top cover. Mine had the same issues. Changed that and it runs perfectly.

When you say everything is "tight", the cam bolt in the bottom of the receiver is not supposed to be tight - 1/8-1/4 turn loose is about where it should be. then staked. That will also give you failure to feed and fire. It was mentioned above, and Is really important -

and now it is running great with links or belts. Talked to a longtime seasoned 1919 guy who suggested the top cover change. He said it has happened to him on a few of his guns. A top cover that would not run on one would work on a different one. He has no idea what the difference would be but there is something going on. I did all I could from springs, pawls, adjusting etc. First cover I changed to, hasn't missed a beat. It's a good feeling after all the frustration.

I had one that started doing this at a shoot a year ago, finally decided to figure it out.

I did swap top covers along with everything else that Weso mentioned. After swapping almost everything Incould think of it still ran 2-5 rounds.

When I put a round in front of the bolt ready to strip it was tight. I grabbed my gerber and filed it down at the range. After I ran 150 rounds straight without a hiccup.
