Shoot the ideas down as you people please, if no one ever tries to do the impossible then no progress will ever be made for anything.

Oh hey Woody, wtf ball bearing are you talking about, that the method you used and it didn't work?

My pockets swaged to hold the primer inside.....So, you are so smart that you know that I will blow bolts....my Enfield is still in one piece with no damage.

Your Sir are a JERK!

At least 3 other people had the common courtesy to say that it was quite possibly my die set that was at fault or that not all brass is to the same specs as nato standards, instead of sugar coating it stating that I am full of **** and this can never be done, I did it, however proving to you that it works would be futile, you are so convinced that it is impossible.

Its enough to know that posting here on this board will have this outcome, maybe more people need to stop being Mr Tough and actually give something thats helpful, no wonder people stop coming here, if it wasn't for people like you then others might stay.

I'm sure after you ruin a few bolts with leaky primers you'll wish you didn't know either. The problem with using the ball baring method is that it doesn't mash the whole pocket. It gets just on the end. Not nearly enough to stop gas blowing by the primer. Buy hey, rock on with your bad self. We can't be trusted anyway. Oh, and sorry dude but if theres a 7.62X51 nato die out there, I've never seen one. I know RCBS doesn't make one. I personally asked them about it.
Mouse, ignorance is bliss.

Morning Wood, I don't know what the hell your problem is, posting unrelated garbage in someone elses thread, grow up already. Make a new thread for yourself, you can have more posts added to your post count which also aids in benefit to your Super Sized Ego.
Morning Wood bought them all?.......What happened to all your 200 million berdan primers. I'm down to my last pallet and was thinking about giving you a call.

1 ringy dingy, 2 ringy dingy..........

Thanks for protecting us from ourselves and not telling us for our own good :(

Before you say it can't done without berdan primers...read!
I have been able to convert my primer pockets to accept boxers-not going to say how, as I know there are skeptics out there and morons who surf the net threw search engines and might injure themselves doing it if the information is provided.
Well then... we don't care... how's that?

On the other hand, I've reloaded Berdan 9 mm inadvertently on the Dillon 550. I missed a few here and there (getting old, y'know) and a Berdan or three got through. The Dillon is a tough loader. The dies are tougher. Punched a hole clean through the bottom of the Berdan shell and shoved a Boxer primer right in. Only when I try to rotate the shell plate on the Dillon do I realize what happened... the Berdan primers are shorter than Boxer. The round will drag with a Boxer primer stocking out a bit.

Never one to give up easily I punched the primer a second time and mashed it down a bit... it cleared and I stuck them with other ammo to be disposed of (down range) and then discarded.

I picked up a couple of boxes of berdan primers on Gunbroker last year,, the guy had a couple of cases of them and when he sold out, that was it. I contacted tha manufacturer and they told me that they had no plans on bringing more into the country (they had been mfged in Russia)
I may, sometime in the near future put these up for sale,, haven't decided yet if I want to go thru the hassle of trying to re-load berdan. Between what I paid for the berdans and having to buy a berdan decapping tool, I could have bought a couple hundred rounds of new 308 brass.

Additionally, I have been reloading 7.62x51 brass for over thirty years, even brass from my HK 91 has slid thru my dies without a hiccup,,, there is a substance called graphite for tight case necks,, or RCBS dies.

All reloading instructions require lubing the case neck inside as well as outside. Some die manufactuers make carbide expanding balls that do not need lubing. I have reloaded thousands of rounds of GI brass with no problems using RCBS dies.

The problem may be in use of cases with less care then US cases and thus do not function as you wish, such as Indian or Pak brass. Or possibly steel cases. My point is that the dies are not your problem.

Reloading SA 7.62x51

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need to find the 7.62x51 NATO dies, not .308 or small base .308 dies, the brass is thicker and therefore it is not the same case as civie .308 winchester, yes I have both. I can not get my expander to enter the neck without sticking on the inside and pulling my expander button out. If the dimensions inside the die were looser say .0025 the it would be no problem. Using Pace Setter Dies from Lee.

I know NATO specs are different from civilian specs in relation to

cartridge dimensions but your ball expander is based on the projectile

dimensions. So unless NATO specs is different from civilian specs when it

comes to projectile dimensions ,except for the obvious I don't understand

your problem.
