OK i have a question for all you RPD experts. I have 2 different belts and I think i got the first one correct but not sure about the second belt on how deep the round has to go in. Anyways, i'd appreciate the usual formative responces. (I think i know which way it goes but just making sure...)

Frank it appears you have both the "L" belt (picture 1) and the "U" belt (picture 2). The first shell in picture 1 is correctly seated, the "L" at the end goes behind the shell not in the groove. The "U" belt has the slight "U" shaped bend that goes in the groove above the rim as you have done in picture 2. The "L" belt, although a bit more of a pain to load, is the preferred belt if you have a FA RPD or will be doing rapid fire; recoil is pronounced and the jarring will actually shake the round loose from the "U" dimple and displace it to the rear causing a jam. Frank - and other RPD shooters here -

I am looking for some "U" link belts for a special project; it's not an RPD. Let me know if you'd part with some and how many. Many vendors who sell RPD belts don't know the difference between the two, and are unwilling to look. I ONLY need "U" links, as I have many "L" link belts already

Please email direct, just remove the X's: [email protected]

Thanks
