I have been holding out on a RPK until something nice came along. It has come along.

Josiah H is selling some really nice RPK kits for 220 on Gunbroker.

I jumped on one and got it yesterday. Far surpasses expectation and was worth the wait. Got a bipod with mine, clear markings matching numbers, excellent wood and barrel.

If you've been holding off on a AK kit, this might be worth the little extra.

Josiah is good people and I've gotten several kits from him.

RPK w/ bipod

Thats strange. I bought an RPK kit from Josiah H last week (to be delivered tommorrow). It was advertised as matching numbers kit, passing the bullet test & NO bipod for that same price (+- $10.00.) Everybody that has posted about them from this sale is happy.

I checked the gunbroker site and it states No cleaning rod and bipod. I see that some folks read that the cleaning rod is missing and the bipod is there. If you did get a bipod (YOU WON the lottery on this deal). Josiah has sold me some very nice kits in the past.

Comm....will a standard AK receiver do for that RPK build?

I imagine that you can make it fit, but a 1.5mm/.065 receiver (which has the RPK bulges at the front trunion) is correct for the original build. NoDakSpud has a correct receiver, the NDS-9, which will fit the bill for this kit perfectly. You will, as I have to, wait till mid December as they are out of stock. Custom numbers are free if you do not mind waiting a few extra weeks for your receiver. I'm in line again :) before the Damorats start to work their legal poison again.

You can get new bipods for these because alot of the time they(the ones that came on the gun) are very loose. The RPK's I have built in both calibers are very accurate(for Ak's) and alot of fun to shoot. Good luck!

I just looked all over their website and can not find it, do you have a number? I know where there is a 5 year old Interordnace kit with a shot out barrel I can get on the cheap. Thanks, Hotch

Home built RPKs. It started with just one kit from Josiah.......
Those are some fine looking rifles. For looks, I would have liked the Yugo model to have the cut out stock, but I wanted the ribbed barrel more. :D

On the Yugo RPK kit you use the standard yugo blank with the bulges. A standard AK blank will not work. All Yugo AK models have the RPK type of bulges on the front trunnion. All the Yugos are a more robust rifle than most of the others out there.

I believe that the standard RPK Russian and Romanian blanks will not match up with the rear trunnion.

I prefer the 80% Cold Steel blanks and rails which I have to hand fit and finish.

No Dak Spud has a great finished receiver. I just prefer to do the hole cutting and such myself.

Also, those dark bores aren't necessarily a problem with the Yugo. The Yugo's are not chrome plated so will be darker anyways.

Unless you are going to war in the tropics or antarctica it isn't necessary to have a chrome bore. Regardless,if the weapon is kept clean you won't have a problem with a non chrome lined barrel anyway.

FWIW - The one Yugo RPK kit I put together was in mint condition with pristine barrel. Bore is like a mirror........perfect and all original Yugo. Needless to say, I paid extra for the condition but well worth it to me.

Good luck with your build !!

i was thinking of building a rpd next, does anyone know if recievers are available for these ?
The only difference I can see between them and a regulare AK is its slightly thicker. I have seen thick flats before but I figure you could probably get by with a thin one on a semi.

Does anyone know if all the commie RPKs uses the same style barrel other than the finned and cosmetic features? I mean will one go in the same hole as another? Hotch
