Contact Barrelxchange his conversion does work. But you would have to send him a few rounds of your ammo as he will chamber the barrel to this ammo. It is also very critical to headspace the gun with the ammo(remove the firing pin) and the bolt, barrel and barrel extention out of the gun. Do a search because some people have posted this way to headspace numerous times. Talk to the guy from barrelxchange he is a good guy to deal with. repeat do not even think of using the gage technique to headspace this round.

Ive already talked to troy at barrelxchange and have had no problems with head spacing my other 1919's in multiple calibers. The Bulgarian yellow tip Is total crap. I opened one tin and found out of 300 rounds 5 or 6 with cracked cases and About 5 or 6 with loose or missing bullets. The bullet seating depth ranges at about 5/32 differences. When I ripped the paper open lots of powder fell out with the cartridges. Aim said I can ship It back to them At my expense and they will determine weather I will get my money back or not. So I am basically trying to find a hole to fill in with this stuff.

so let me get this straight............you wouldn't shoot this out of a M44, but are willing to risk life and limb shooting it out of a 1919...........ah, what part of, don't shoot crap ammo out of a firearm don't you understand?

but hey, it isn't me that will be behind that firearm. if you have ever seen what happens to a 1919 after a bad goes off, you might just think twice before shooting it. ask ohio blacksheep what happen to his a couple BULLETFEST ago, he is lucky that no one got hurt

No you silly goose!! I meant I wouldn't even shoot It out of my M44. I wouldn't shoot It out of anything! God! you gun nuts! I have to spell everything out for you.:D I'm hoping AIM will take It back but its risky because They will determine weather I'm wrong or not about it being crap. And shipping is more than a hundred bucks. Has anybody had any experience with the Russian?

i bought a metric crap load of it and ive put about 3k downrange without issue so far.

ill be the first to stand up and say "hey, that ammo sucks, dont shoot it, your life and gun aint worth it" but ive seen nothing wrong with my yellow tip heavy ball, and this is the first ive heard that it was bad (admittedly i havent had alot of time to read the forums lately though ).

This is the first ive heard about it being bad, i bought my stuff from century a year or more ago though so maybe its just a different batch from what you got?

The stuff is good, strong, and accurate from my experiance with it. it has worked favorably in a svt40, a m91/30 sniper, a m38 and m44 mosin nagant, and a post sample pkm

Honestly with the large range of the bullets not being seated all the way I dont even know if the rounds would all fit in between the cart. spacers? I dont have my parts back from barrelxchange yet to test It out.

5/16 of an inch? Thats .3125 inch or so

got calipers or a micrometer?

modern reloading 2nd edition lists the correct over all cartridge length for 54r to be 3.037 inches long
Check over all length and dont shoot any of the cartridges that arent relatively close to that measurement.

5/16 is obviously not one of the ones youll want to shoot
