Check this fun little collection of words out:

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/a42434/texas-campus-carry-teachers-warned/

For those of you who are shy to click on the link, it's an article from Esquire magazine regarding weapons on Texas campus with the headline that reads 'Nothing Says 'Safe Space' on a College Campus Like an AR-15' and is backed up by a photo of a guy carrying slung an AK variant with a hi-cap magazine in backwards.

And if that isn't scary enough, read the comments below the article.

More proof that journalism and clear minded thinking has gone the way of the do-do bird.

The Dodo bird is extinct, stupidity isn't."
Austin is Liberal, the rest of Texas isn't. However, Austin does have the music scene, and the bats.

(BTW, 30 round magazine is standard capacity, not "hi-cap" -- frontward or backward.)

No s**t. Texas is full. From now on, if you move here, you need proof of displacing someone useless back to where they came from. Someone in my brothers Dads club wondered why we even cared about the Civil War down here. ( Rebel general named schools everywhere) Texas barely even fought! I guess the largest cavalry unit in the entire army came from thin air. I guess JB Hood and the Texas Brigade was a fig-newton of imaginary history. Most of the job-chasing ****-tards that come here think we are all too stupid to breathe. Im no Rebel sympathizer but Damn so many of our new transplants just don't get it. This is Texas mother-f**ker! Be a leader and proud of your state or GTFO!

Seriously, we aren't welcome because we don't spend enormous amounts of time revisiting a war that the South lost? Northerners don't expect Southerners to embrace Union military achievements of the civil war before moving north of the Mason Dixon line, do they? Maybe you should spend more time focusing on current issues like welfare reform and foreign immigration rather than constantly dredging up this old topic.

I get it man, you are embarrassed that the average American doesn't comprehend US history anymore. Stop taking it out on us 'job seeking fuktards' who are just trying to get away from our oppressive home states and move somewhere with a little more freedom.

United we stand, divided we fall.

Too late my good man!! Your former governor invited the californicators to come stay, and bring our business too. It's just a matter of time before the steer-horned hood-ornamented Prius invade your 'hood. The terms of the accord was silent on leaving CA politics behind.

Soon you too will bow your head and admit that a standard mag holds ten, and be greatful you don't live in a totalitarian regime such as NY.

The Kool-Aid is sweet and plentiful. Drink deep . . .:rofl:

I was merely giving an example of what we get from every where else about how we are unenlightened. I don't care about the Civil War as current fodder for anything. My point is, come to my home and participate in the story. Don't come here and tell me how I am wrong or whatever because it is different where you come from. So many of the people who come here (Dallas) really hate it here but stay for work. This I understand. Please do not bother to explain to me why my city sucks. Do your job and quit bitching or go away. I apologize for antagonizing anyone. J

"DON'T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO" bumper stickers were all over the place in Colorado. Still the fucktards fucked Colorado. In escaping California they brought California laws with them. Now in New Hampshire the massholes are escaping Massachusetts to "MASSACHUSICATE NEW HAMPSHIRE"

Fair enough man. Ive spent some time in Texas, nothing more than a few weekends, but I fell in love with the place. I plan on retiring there in 7 years. But Ill bring with me an appreciation for hospitality, history and humility. Ill buy you a beer.

I'm continually amazed at how the whole planet has been lured to a better place and brought the stuff they fled with them. CA migration is a sore subject with most western states, New England is sore with the big city mentality of the eastern seaboard, Upstate NY with the City, city folk moving to the country. Illinois suffers from Chicago; it goes on everywhere. Darn shame. In the end everybody is weird - ya just gotta find your brand and stick with 'em.

The old adage of 'when in Rome . . .' has been lost on many a migrant and thus they are perplexed when the local folks express their disdain.

CA gets a bad rap from the image a few cities project. Get sixty plus miles away from any of them and the self reliance, conservative disposition prevails. In the suburbs of Sacramento, just down the street from my house is a little un-manned fruit stand at the end of the homeowners driveway. You put your money in the jam jar, and that's that. A small bait store next to a nice fishing lake at the crest of the Sierra mountain range an hour and a half out of Sacramento has a sign on the counter and a jar of money for the patrons to make their own change when the storekeeper is out tending to customers on the dock. There must have been over $150 in cash in that can when I stopped by last to buy some worms.

Folks are folks. By and large we all want to be our families hero's, proud of our work and live in a nice place.

As an anecdote, I played pretend Civil War for about 25 yrs. Only ever did Yankee. Specifically 173rd New York. They fought extensively throughout Louisiana during the Red River Campaign. Did 5th New York Zouaves as well and even the 42nd Mass. ( New Orleans, Galveston) My brother and I have slept on every piece of frozen field between Cloudcroft NM and Ft. Ticonderoga. Been drunk with every type of doctor/toothless hillbilly/active duty military/fire-pit philosopher. Met famous soldiers and regular Joe's (like me). Wouldn't trade any of it (except Murphreesboro Tenn. Three coldest nights in the history of cold.) for anything. J

I live and work in the heart of one of those "image" driven California cities that constantly gets a bad rap and maybe some of it is well deserved, but I completely agree with Belt Driven, once you get out of the big city limits, people are as friendly and trusting in California as anywhere else I've been in the states.

And yes, in ten years when I retire, I too will be migrating to another state. I won't be making the move because of California's restrictive gun laws, traffic, smog, droughts, fires, mud slides, earthquakes or because I fell in love with another state. Honestly, I don't want to move. This is where I was born, raised, and have lived all my life, but it's just too expensive here and I can't afford it in retirement :(

Rob,
I bailed from Kommieland to N. Idaho years ago. I never looked back. I am 60 miles south of the Canadian border.
We get snow during winter, but the summers can be hot. Great hunting and fishing, good water, everyone shoots,
5 year ccw. We shoot NFA toys which are legal in this state.
Take a trip and look around. Would make a good vacation. My buddy from socal flew in for a visit and he now lives 20 min. away.

Sounds like a great place to live! I plan to visit many places before I retire in search of a good place to relocate, I'll put it on my list of areas to check out. Thanks!

Rob1961, I dig your Scorpions album cover avatar.
I have always liked that album cover too and since I couldn't think of anything original for my avatar, I figured, why not.

With the Kansas shooting this week there is no telling what kind of gun laws someone will try an introduce especially for "assault rifles". This world is going to hell in a hand basket quick! I am scared to know what we will see in my future on this earth!

Don't worry. We have half your population but more NRA members (the most), more people out first day of hunting season (the most), and somehow more CC licenses (the most or second). And better gun laws :D

Now THAT is how you school a Texan :D

Abominog SEZ: "The safest place I can think of is a gun show."

I'd teach my kids to try to find a gun SHOP close by if they ever felt lost or threatened -- fewer Liberal Socialist gawkers and other nefarious types likely. Find a cop? -- and get involved in the Social Services system? Not my idea of a good idea.
