I'm converting from .308 to 30-06. Has anyone bought a Sarco barrel lately? Are they the only game in town for 30-06 barrels? I have a few extra .308 barrels if anyone woul like to deal on a trade for a 30-06 barrel. Thanks.

30-06 Barrels

I bought 2 30-06 barrels from IMA, they were $149.95 and I paid the $15.00 hand select charge, what arrived were covered with cosmolene, after a long cleaning, they appear to be true NOS. The bores look like a mirror! They are not chrome but sure have the look.

click the SEARCH button here on the forum.

search "30.06 barrels".

dezarms and the one and only JOHN B. MCGUIRE have recent 06 barrel for sale posts you might consider as well.

International Military Antiques

Ignore me or check out International Military Antiques.com for 30-06 barrels I am getting more of the good ones, I don't care for the used, possibly rusty Sarco stuff! I have one from them, it is in my "non-functional display gun"

Roughly two months ago, I bought a '06 barrel from Sarco and BMG Parts. Both barrels cost about the same.

The BMG Parts barrel looked to have been blasted and re-parked on the outside, the bore was great. When I called Rick (I believe that is the correct name) said they had a few in stock.

The Sarco barrel was also in great shape, no rust just a layer of old dried cosmoline. The bore was in great shape.

...SARCO barrels...

Bought (10) 30/06 barrels from SARCO..... every one was in cosmoline and all cleaned up to like new. Bores were pristeen. Suggest you get 2-3 guys together and buy a quantity of (5) or more barrels...cheaper and probably get better barrels....

since we are asking about 30-06 barrels..were all the 30-06 barrels non-chrome lined?
In the 1950s, barrels were produced with stellite liners, and chromed bores and front bearing surface. They will be either SAK or RIA marked, and were for the M37 tank guns and as replacement spares for the 1919A4. Don't know the actual years of manufacture, but those were the latest barrels.

Edit. Forgot to mention they are rare and expensive when you find them.

Thanks for the info!! On another note.. has anyone bought one of the new production barrels from Dezarms yet?
