Couple of warnings on Boxes

Just a couple of warnings to those who are building the Watercooled look-a-likes and want an authentic wood ammo box for their tripod. First off this one on Ebay isn't a U.S. .30 box, it has no slots cut in it for mounting on our tripods. Second I have bought a lot of correct mounting boxes with slots but the were for the Argentine Brownings and are too narrow for .30 (30.06) or 8MM
on belts or links. If your only shooting 7.62 NATO you can get away with the narrow boxes...but if you plan on shooting .30 or 8MM you better make sure it actually "is" a .30 box. This is not a hard fast rule but "most" every box I have seen or bought that had the "angle" on the one cornor of the bottom.... was a true U.S. .30 box. About 2/3 of my "square boxes" are too narrow. It sucks to spend $60-100 for a nice box.....and you can't use it.

The biggest problem with these auctions is that they are not Browning boxes.
He's got a Marlin Potato Digger box, a BAR magazine box, and the link is to a German Maxim wood box.
There are many more types of boxes out there than many people realize and TiredIron is correct about the wooden boxes sometimes being for calibers besides 30-06. Some of the slanted ones are Argentine and for the 7.65 round (like 308) but the good part is these are actually more rare than the 06 ones!
