ok, ive answered this one about 2 million times.... LOL

if you build it right the sten is very reliable!! ive done quite a few of these now and they all work reall good.

the guy in indiana has a real nice tube and what looks to be a nice conversion set up, but ive never used it (YET).

ive always used the Semi Auto Sten 3 set up: SAS3 for short.

here is a picture and a link to my build tut's over at shoot1919.

The Stens are getting cheaper to build as more manufactures are picking up the slack. Remember years back trying to build a 1919? you did not have the parts available today that make it a breeze. I do remember someone over at the Sten board had a idea to cut the bolt and rotate it 90 degrees and re weld it so the cocking handle stayed in the same place but I never kept up with it and now it looks like someone has filled that order.

Rocco..

Get his 16 1/2" barrel too...

I got a dummy silencer last weekend from him, and it helps to cover up that god awefully long barrel. (even though the barrel is a work of art.)

I've got the tube welded to the reciever, just starting to add the internals. After their fitted, I'll weld on the mag well and take her for a drive..

Good Luck

Tim

Stens were produced in 9mm because most were air dropped in occupied france for the resistance to use and 9mm is what the germans used so ammo for the sten would not be an issue for members of the resistance to aquire. They also dropped a hand gun i forgot what they called it but it was early in the war it was however chambered for .45 when the user ran out of ammo the pistol was useless to them because of the ammo it took
