Today for the first time I tryed to see how straight my 1919 would shoot.
Left and right was good after just a little adjustment. The up down was was all up with no down ability at all. I was shooting 1.5 -2 feet hight at 170 yards with my rear sight in the layed down postioin low as it can get. Front sight was fliped up in normal postion. What can I do to bring down impact point with this gun ?
I do have a new barrel to try but I don't think thats the right way to go.
What do you guys think ? Thanks for your input.

shrink tube

Go to harbor freight and they have bags of shrink tube, different colors. Cut a piece about an inch long and heat shrink it onto the front sight blade. It'll still fit loose so you can easily remove it if needed.

OR,,,,
When I built my guns I always used a laser to get the jacket lined up as close a possible. The jacket supports the front bearing and therefore the barrel,, turning the jacket can have a big effect on POI. I used a small torpedo laser level to do this. By removing the jacket screw and making small adjustments in the position of the jacket you can true up POI.

You do have to drill and countersink a new jacket screw hole at the new jacket position.

Fixed

1st Thanks for your past inputs ! I fixed the sight problem, the lock washer was holding the sight from fully adjusting and I added .030 to the adjustability. I put the sight in the Mill and milled the 2 surfaces where the screw rides by .030". Now in doing this it moved the sight picture by 1/2" over a span of about 15 ft. Again thanks for your help.
