i dont dispute that, if i spend that much money on a 22 it better, but i dont need to shoot a fly at a 100yds, i cant see a fly at 100yds what i need is a good gun at a good price, the 10/22 can not be beat in its price range ,if you put that much money in a 10/22 it will do the same

For anyone with a 10/22 with extraction or reliability problems (or if you want to prevent those problems) I highly reccommend the Volquartzen extractor reccommended back on the first page of replies. Much more durable than the ruger piece, and it is 110% effective. It totally rocks my face off. And while you've got the rifle open, it's a great time to install an extended mag release, and do a little modification with your die grinder to the bolt hold-open (do a search on any 10/22 board) so that you just have to rack the bolt to release the hold open. Costs about $25 and takes about an hour. Best modifications you can do to a 10/22, IMHO.

I cant say i have ever shot flys . But lots of Grakles , I have seen people spend more than a 270 will cost you on a Winchester 52. That is another good one , but it is still a bolt action.Nothings wrong with a 10/22 ,and i have seen some that were tricked out cost 800.00 . Rugers MK2 pistol is a great gun also ,and like the 10/22 for the money is hard to beat. But the 270 just seems to have a lot going for it ,the sights are what i like about them ,and they balance in your hand perfectly.
