Question are the German Semi-autos versions of the MG34 & 42 legal to own and shoot in California or are they listed in the Assault weapons ban. The only ones I've seen are non-functional displays at gunshows.

I just got my new state regs. book this week. CA is 58 triple column pages.

Though neither the MG-34 nor MG-42 are specifically mentioned in section 12276, they probably fall under section 12276.1.

(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any of the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes con****uously beneath the action of the weapon.
(E) A flash suppressor.

CA law defines a Magazine as: “any ammunition feeding device.” That would seem to include belts.

Any CA board members know of any specific court rulings?

Here is a quote from the TNW web site on the MG34......

"This firearm will shoot semi-auto only and cannot be converted to full-auto. This firearm is
BATF approved and may be legally owned in all states except California."

He was the first to come out with it so I would guess he would know.

Yugoslavian M53

Century won't sell the semi-auto version of the M53 in California (and several other states). WLA follows their guidance with sales on the semi-auto M53 receivers.
If you try and remove the flashider (just unscrew it) the firearm(M53) won't function.
MarColMar and WLA are looking into a "California" model of the semi-auto PKM.

the flash hider is also the booster retainer, so you need to cut off the cone and use the bottom section. If you make a grip with no handle / pistol grip it eliminates that problem
I was working on spade grips with a gripless fcg box but there wasn't enough interest in it for me to spend the time and $$$ to finish developing it.

Pirate, has anyone thought of making a "sporter" type buttstock/grip assembly for the 34/42/53? Something like a thumbhole stock, it would eliminate the "pistol grip", yet still provide for a buttstock and grip.

I didn't list it in my first post, didn't want to go there.

They may be available, overseas.
